Solaris Server Migration Consultant (100% Remote)

Title: Solaris Server Migration Consultant

Duration: 60 - 70 hours total

Hourly: $70 - $75 per hour

Scope:

Deploy 2 new solaris-10 m10 servers remotely

• Configure ilom
• No ldoms (unless solaris-11)
• Install same os as currently on v890 or later
• Update firmware if necessary and possible
• Configure m10 servers onto network

Decide and configure storage

if internal storage

• Create zfs pool
• Create zfs datasets matching mountpoints on v890

if new netapp luns

• Create and mount new luns matching v890
• Create zfs datasets on luns

if single netapp lun

• Create zfs pool
• Create zfs datasets matching mountpoints on v890

if current netapp luns

• Preparation to swing luns from v890 to m10

Setup shared nfs storage between v890 and m10

Migrating a zone

• shutdown and detach v890 zone
• export zone config
• create image of zone on shared storage
• import image of zone on m10
• create zones on m10 from zone config
• attach and boot zone
• test zone on m10

Migration Responsibilities

1. Migrate 9 native solaris-10 zones from v890 csnsdevsol1 on first m10
2. Migrate 2 native solaris-10 zones from v890 csnsdevsol2 on second m10
3. Migrate 1 branded solaris-9 zone from v890 csnsdevsol2 on second m10
4. Migrate 4 branded solaris-8 zones from v890 csnsdevsol2 on second m10
