Role: Business analyst with API(Technical business analyst)

Location: Dallas, TX/Tampa, FL/Jersey city, NJ

Duration: 12+ Months

Responsibilities:

• Gather, analyze, and document business and technical requirements for API integrations and system enhancements.
• Work closely with architects and developers to define REST/SOAP API specifications.
• Create detailed BRD, FRD, API requirement documents, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
• Define API request/response structures, JSON/XML schemas, and error handling scenarios.
• Collaborate with backend teams on microservices-based architecture.
• Participate in API design discussions using tools like Swagger/OpenAPI.
• Perform API testing using Postman, SoapUI, or similar tools.
• Validate data mapping between source and target systems.
• Work on third-party integrations (Payment gateways, Banking APIs, Salesforce, etc.).
• Conduct impact analysis for API changes and version upgrades.
• Support UAT, SIT, and production releases.
• Ensure compliance with security standards (OAuth 2.0, JWT, API Gateway policies).

Technical Skills:

• Strong understanding of RESTful APIs and SOAP services
• Experience with JSON, XML, XSD
• Knowledge of API authentication mechanisms (OAuth 2.0, JWT, Basic Auth)
• Hands-on experience with Postman / Swagger / API Gateway
• Basic understanding of SQL queries and database concepts
• Experience working in Microservices architecture
• Understanding of HTTP methods (GET, POST, PUT, DELETE)
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS/Azure preferred)
• Knowledge of message queues (Kafka/RabbitMQ) is a plus
• Business & Analysis Skills:
• Strong requirement gathering and stakeholder communication skills
• Experience writing User Stories in Agile/Scrum environment
• Ability to create process flows (BPMN/UML diagrams)
• Gap analysis and impact analysis expertise
• Experience in Financial/Banking/Healthcare domain (if applicable)

Preferred Qualifications:

• 5+ years of Business Analysis experience
• 2+ years of API-focused project experience
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum methodology
• Certifications like CBAP, PMI-PBA, or Scrum Certification (nice to have).
