Summary

The Systems & SaaS Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, administration, and optimization of enterprise systems and SaaS platforms across the organization. This role supports a hybrid environment of cloud and on-premise technologies, with a primary focus on Microsoft 365, Azure, and integrated SaaS applications.  The Engineer plays a critical role in enabling a modern digital workplace by delivering scalable, secure, and automated solutions. This position is responsible for maintaining system reliability, supporting enterprise technology initiatives, and driving innovation through automation, integration, and AI-enabled capabilities.

·         Administer and support enterprise systems across cloud and on-prem environments, including servers, operating systems, and SaaS platforms

·         Manage Microsoft 365 (Exchange, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive) and Azure services

·         Perform installation, configuration, patching, maintenance, and performance monitoring of systems and platforms

·         Ensure high availability, reliability, and scalability of all systems

·         Administer and integrate enterprise SaaS applications, ensuring secure and efficient operation

·         Manage application lifecycle including onboarding, configuration, optimization, and decommissioning

·         Support identity-integrated applications leveraging SSO, MFA, and conditional access in partnership with the Security and Management teams

·         Develop and maintain automation solutions using scripting and platforms such as Power Automate

·         Enable and support AI-driven tools (e.g., Microsoft Copilot, Power Platform) across the organization

·         Identify opportunities to automate manual processes and improve operational efficiency

·         Integrate systems and applications through APIs and middleware in partnership with the Application Services/Business Systems team

·         Support hybrid cloud infrastructure, including Azure-based workloads and integrations

·         Participate in architecture design and implementation of scalable cloud solutions

·         Collaborate with other technology staff to ensure infrastructure is secure and optimized

·         Implement and maintain system security configurations in alignment with governance policies

·         Ensure compliance with organizational standards for data protection, access control, and system hardening

·         Partner with other technology staff to enforce Zero Trust principles

·         Serve as escalation point for complex systems and SaaS-related issues

·         Troubleshoot and resolve system performance, availability, and integration issues

·         Provide guidance and support to other technology staff

·         Participate in and lead enterprise technology projects from planning through execution

·         Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver solutions on time and within scope

·         Proactively identify opportunities for system improvements and modernization

·         Develop and maintain documentation including system configurations, SOPs, and architecture diagrams

·         Contribute to development of standards, policies, and best practices

·         Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities necessary to perform essential functions:

  •  Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent business or military experience
  •  5 – 8 years of experience in systems administration, cloud engineering, or related field
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft 365, Azure, and enterprise SaaS platforms       
  • Experience with automation tools (PowerShell, Power Automate, scripting)
  • Experience with identity and access integration (SSO, MFA, Azure AD/Entra ID)
  • Industry certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator, M365, or equivalent
  • Experience working in a decentralized or multi-site organization
  • Experience supporting modern workplace and collaboration technologies
  • Demonstrated innovation with the ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technologies, providing effective technical support and guidance to end users
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to assessing issues, identifying root causes, and developing and implementing effective solutions independently
  • Self-motivated with a strong work ethic; takes Initiative and demonstrates accountability in delivering high-quality work in a fast-paced environment
  • Exceptional organizational skills, including time management and prioritization, with the ability to manage multiple tasks, competing priorities, and deadlines

  • Ability to read, interpret, and apply technical documentation, procedures, and communications
  • Proficiency in using computer systems, software applications, and standard business tools
