Summary

Job Responsibilities:

  • Perform standard system programming activities like configuration, installation & maintenance using SMP/E, and vendor software installations in the mainframe environment.
  • Perform Operating System upgrade and RSU maintenance via z/OSMF Workflow.
  • Advanced System Management: Architect, install, and configure highly complex z/OS environments and third-party software.
  • Support Software Standardization and new Feature implementations.
  • Support other team: storage management, performance tuning, capacity planning, security, networking, and operating procedures from zOS perspective.
  • Work with Mainframe System Programmers staff across tracks to enhance the mainframe environment.
  • Assist team members to solve problems, make innovative improvements, and make decisions.
  • Identify and implement system and process improvements in the z/OS environment Work with application support teams and other internal customers to facilitate business initiatives.

 

Experience level:

  • 12+ years of professional work experience as a Mainframe System Programmer in zOS & ISVs.

 

Technical key skills (Mandatory skills):

  • Expertise in performing SMP/E and Non-SMPE Installation of ISV products)
  • Expertise in IBM and Broadcom Software product Install and Upgrades
  • Mastery of z/OS system commands, utilities, and automation tools.
  • Operating system z/OS V2.5 upgrades or later with z/OSMF workflow execution.
  • IODF, HCD Skillset to add new devices.
  • Sysplex and config management (good to have)
  • Fluent in JCL and IBM Utilities (IEBGENER/IEBCOPY/AMASPZAP/DFDSS)
  • ISPF/TSO and other basic
  • Basic knowledge of REXX/CLIST
  • Designing project plan(upgrades, maintenance, decom) with task list for all stakeholders and communicating the timelines with delivery and customer.
  • Formulate roadmaps with all pre-requisites to achieve a project completion.

Job Responsibilities:

Responsible for designing, implementing, and operating enterprise infrastructure across on‑premises data centers and public cloud platforms. This role partners closely with development, security, and infrastructure teams to deliver secure, scalable, and highly available infrastructure platforms that support business-critical workloads.

 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Design, deploy, and support hybrid infrastructure environments spanning on‑premises systems (compute, storage, virtualization) and cloud services (IaaS/PaaS)
  • Collaborate with Security, Network, Service Desk, and Application teams to deliver secure and compliant infrastructure solutions
  • Monitor system health, capacity, and performance across on‑premises and cloud platforms; analyze trends and recommend improvements
  • Ensure infrastructure platforms are highly available, resilient, and recoverable
  • Support enterprise backup, retention, and recovery solutions across hybrid environments.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend improvements aligned with enterprise strategy.

 

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; equivalent experience (8+ years) will be considered
  • Minimum of four years of enterprise infrastructure experience, including design, administration, and troubleshooting
  • Experience supporting hybrid cloud environments (on-premises and public cloud)
  • Working knowledge of cloud governance, policy enforcement, and cost management practices.
  • Ability to automate infrastructure provisioning and management using scripting languages (PowerShell, Python, Bash) and infrastructure‑as‑code tools (Terraform, Ansible).
  • Strong working knowledge of Windows and Linux server platforms

 

OTHER PREFERRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Hands‑on experience with enterprise cloud infrastructure technologies
  • Experience with automation frameworks and CI/CD-style infrastructure workflows
  • Familiarity with monitoring and observability platforms (AppDynamics, Dynatrace, Datadog, or similar)
  • Solid understanding of storage and networking fundamentals
  • Experience with backup and recovery solutions
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and an ownership mindset
