Summary

Reporting to the Assistant Manager of Facilities, the Maintenance Helper is responsible for carrying out general cleaning and maintenance tasks to support a Best-in-Class Resort and Casino environment, including all connected buildings and facilities. This role also assists various trades across the Facilities and EVS teams, contributing to the overall upkeep and operational excellence of the property.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Receives work orders/requests from Facilities and EVS management on a HotSOS device and performs necessary tasks. Provides assistance to all Facilities trades with projects. Assists with promoting brand loyalty by engaging in exceptional customer service to both internal and external customers.
2. Performs wall repairs such as patching, touch-up and flush painting, wallpaper repair/replacement, and minor carpentry work. Makes minor carpentry, electrical, mechanical, and plumbing repairs. Performs building maintenance such as minor roof repairs, ceiling tile replacement, walls, woodwork, windows, doors, and sills. Operates hand tools and power tools for making minor maintenance repairs.
3. Conducts daily inspections of Enterprise properties (i.e. hotel rooms, kitchens, and restrooms, etc.). Perform any and all preventative maintenance and repairs required to maintain a Best-in-Class Resort and Casino.
4. Maintains and uses all chemicals properly; references the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) for details. Maintains stock and notifies management when in need of ordering. Use proper housekeeping techniques when cleaning work areas. Follows all safety rules and procedures.
5. Prepares rooms for use by the Resort and Casino sets up and tears down chairs, tables, and equipment in meeting, training, venues, and function rooms.
6. Performs other duties as assigned to support the e?cient operation of the department.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of maintenance experience required.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSA)
  • Knowledge of power and handheld tools required. Must possess personal set of tools.
  • Ability to operate a forklift, powerlift, and various other equipment.
  • Ability to follow safety guidelines when using required equipment, tools, and techniques while performing job duties.
  • Ability to read and follow various signage as well as oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints and schematics.
  • Knowledge of emergency shut-off procedures for gas, water, electrical, etc.


LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS AND REGISTRATIONS
  • At the discretion of the San Manuel Tribal Gaming Commission, you may be required to obtain and maintain a gaming license.
  • Certification as an operator for Powered Industrial Trucks (PIT) and Mobile Elevated Work Platforms (MEWP) issued by the Facilities Department.
  • Authorized Driver: Role requires operation or driving of Tribe-owned vehicles or driving patron vehicles. A valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record as determined by the insurance carrier is required.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ WORKING CONDITIONS - ENVIRONMENT

The physical demands and working environment described here are representative of those that an employee encounters and must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
  • Work environment is indoors and outdoors.
  • Work requires travel to attend meetings, trade shows, and conferences.
  • Incumbents may be required to work evening, weekend and holiday shifts.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced, high-demand environment.
  • Strength sufficient to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects and/or move up to 40 pounds occasionally. Utilize mechanical tools/team lifting procedures when this limit is exceeded.
  • Work involves standing and walking for extended periods.
  • May operate a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.
  • Physical activities that apply to the essential functions of the position are balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.
  • Hearing sufficiently to hear conversational levels in person, via videoconference and over the telephone.
  • Speech sufficient to make oneself heard and understood in person, in front of groups, in meetings, via videoconference and over the telephone.
  • Visual acuity that meets the requirements of the position: The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; expansive reading and visual inspection of employees, visitors or facility.
  • Mobility sufficient to safely move indoors and outdoors, walk, stoop, bend and kneel, and enter, exit and operate a motor vehicle in the course of travel to promotional events, meetings, conferences, trade shows and San Manuel properties.
  • Endurance sufficient to sit, walk and stand for extended periods, and maintain efficiency throughout the entire work shift and during extended work hours.
  • The employee may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles including secondhand smoke.
