Systems Administrator

Overview

TEKsystems is seeking a mission-focused Systems Administrator with strong Windows Server and AWS GovCloud (US) experience to support classified Department of Defense environments. This role is ideal for a cleared professional who thrives in secure, compliance-driven infrastructures and enjoys hands-on operational ownership.

Responsibilities

• Administer and maintain AWS GovCloud (US) environments supporting classified workloads (IL4/IL5/IL6)
• Manage and support Windows Server-based systems in classified environments
• Ensure compliance with RMF, DISA STIGs, NIST 800-53, and FedRAMP High
• Configure and manage AWS services including EC2, IAM, S3, RDS, VPC, CloudWatch, CloudTrail, and KMS
• Implement and enforce Zero Trust Architecture (ZTA) and strong IAM practices
• Perform system patching, backups, vulnerability remediation, and compliance scanning using ACAS, SCAP, and other approved tools
• Support ATO packages, POA&Ms, and continuous monitoring efforts
• Implement centralized logging, monitoring, and alerting; integrate with SIEM tools such as Splunk or ELK
• Provide Tier 3 support, conduct root cause analysis, and assist with incident response
• Create and maintain system documentation, diagrams, and SOPs

Required Qualifications

• Active DoD Secret Clearance (TS/SCI preferred)
• IAT Level II or III certification (Security+ CE, CASP+, CISSP, or equivalent)
• 3+ years of hands-on Systems Administration experience
• Strong experience with Windows Server administration
• Working knowledge of AWS GovCloud (US) services
• Experience operating in classified or highly regulated environments
• Familiarity with DoD cybersecurity frameworks (RMF, STIGs, NIST)
• Scripting or automation experience (PowerShell, Bash, Python, Terraform, or CloudFormation)
• Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting IL5 or IL6 classified workloads
• Familiarity with AWS Organizations and Service Control Policies (SCPs)
• Exposure to DevSecOps, CI/CD pipelines, or container platforms (ECS/EKS)
• Experience working with DISA assessments or CCRI events
• GIS / Geospatial / ESRI experience is a strong plus

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Scott Air Force Base, IL.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $34.00 - $42.00/hr.
