Neos is Seeking a DBA (Oracle/Data Warehouse) for a long-term contract role with our client in Austin, TX.

Position is Hybrid - 3 days remote with 2 days (Mondays and Tuesdays) required to be onsite

DESCRIPTION OF SERVICES

Enters codes to create production database. Selects and enters codes of utility program to monitor database performance, such as distribution of records and amount of available memory. Directs programmers and analysts to make changes to database management systems. Reviews and corrects programs. Answers user questions. Confers with coworkers to determine impact of database changes on other systems and staff cost for making changes to database. Modifies database programs to increase processing performance, referred to as performance tuning. Workers typically specialize in one or more types of database management systems. Providing assistance in the planning, development, maintenance, and monitoring of integrated database systems, and ensuring that the conceptual and design phases of new applications are consistent with the structural parameters within the database environment. Evaluates users' requests for new data elements and systems, incorporates them into the existing shared data environment, and provides technical assistance. Coordinates the use of data to ensure data integrity and control redundancy, loads databases, and reorganizes as needed. Performs data modeling and prototyping. Performs logical and physical data modeling, designs relational database models, and creates physical data models from logical data models. Performs security recovery procedures. Determines and implements database search strategies and storage requirements. Maintains data dictionary ensuring uniformity of definitions and sets standards for use of data dictionary. Monitors database performance and recommends efficiency improvements. Creates test database environments for applications sections, including the creation of necessary libraries and procedures. Executes the procedures necessary to save, retrieve, and recover databases from hardware and software failures within established procedures. Assists with determining, implementing, and enhancing standards on database security and with monitoring agency disaster recovery procedures and systems. Assists with the installation of database software and with analyzing, designing, and implementing databases. Assists in benchmarking and threshold testing of databases and with establishing and controlling necessary database security. Assists in the selection of database management software. Experience in computer systems analysis or computer programming work. Knowledge of the principles, practices, and techniques of computer programming and systems design; of computer operations, systems, and procedures; of project control and cost estimating techniques; of computer programming languages; of data processing flowcharting techniques; of database structures and theories; and of current database technologies. Has working knowledge of EIR Accessibility standards and assistive technologies. Ensures that user interfaces for database administration and inputting, viewing, outputting data (via reports) are compliant with accessibility standards. Provides support to users in obtaining data/information when EIR Accessibility issues arise. Responsibilities

  1. Supports the installation of database software and migrations to new data management system software levels, and tests the migrations to ensure data reliability and functionality.
  2. Analyzes, designs, modifies, and maintains database structures.
  3. Designs and implements procedures necessary to save, retrieve, and recover databases from hardware and software failures.
  4. Establishes and implements database security controls and user access levels.
  5. Evaluates and recommends database software packages for potential acquisition.
  6. Prepares and develops database documentation, procedures, and definitions for data dictionaries.
  7. Performs logical and physical data modeling, designs relational database models, and creates physical data models from logical data models.
  8. Performs database performance monitoring and implements efficiency improvements.
  9. Assists in modifying existing databases and database management systems.
  10. Assists in developing standards, guidelines, policies, and procedures designed to ensure the integrity of the database environment.


CANDIDATE SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

5 years Required Strong knowledge of database management systems, as well as data warehouse management and decision support tools

5 years Required Extensive experience in the development, implementation and maintenance of data warehouses and data marts is desired

5 years Required Experience in business objects and in building the data dictionary

5 years Required Ability to use database access tools for application delivery

5 years Required Strong familiarity with analysis, planning and management reporting functions

5 years Required Well-developed oral and written communications skills

5 years Required Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills

5 years Required Extremely high level of analytical ability where problems are very unusual and extremely difficult

5 years Required Understanding of benchmarking processes and techniques

5 years Required Very high level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others, motivate employees, and elicit work output

5 years Required Data Warehousing data population and data modeling techniques for target structures such as Star Schemas, Snowflake Schemas, and highly normalized data models

5 years Required GUI based ETL tools such as Informatica, IBM WebSphere DataStage, or similar tools

5 years Required Implementation experience with enterprise class databases e.g. Teradata, Oracle, SQL Server, etc. or similar technologies

5 years Required Implementation experience with analytical and reporting tools e.g. Business Objects, Cognos, Hyperion, MicroStrategy or similar tools

5 years Required Experience with data warehouse implementation process, from business requirements through logical modeling, physical database design, data sourcing and data transformation, data loading, Structured Query Language (SQL), end-user tools, database and SQL

5 years Required Excellent analytical, problem-solving, team-playing, and oral and written communication skills

5 years Required Proven ability to work successfully with technical and non-technical groups and manage multiple responsibilities

5 years Preferred Oracle Database experience

5 years Preferred SSRS report creation

1 year Preferred M204 database experience
