Summary

Team Red Dog is hiring a Senior Silicon Validation Engineer for our client, a Fortune 50 technology leader and world-class innovation client. This role is focused on post-silicon validation, hardware debug, automation, and regression testing for next-generation CPU, GPU, and APU technologies. The engineer will execute validation plans, analyze test results, perform first-level failure analysis, and develop automation solutions that improve lab efficiency and test coverage. This is a highly visible opportunity to contribute directly to cutting-edge silicon development programs while partnering with cross-functional engineering teams to ensure product quality and readiness.

Opportunity Overview:

This role offers the opportunity to work at the forefront of silicon development, supporting advanced hardware platforms as new silicon arrives in the lab. You will play a critical role in validating system functionality, troubleshooting complex hardware issues, and improving test automation processes that directly influence product quality and development timelines. Engineers who enjoy hands-on lab work, hardware debugging, data analysis, and solving challenging technical problems will find this role both rewarding and impactful.

Top Required Skills (Must Haves):
  1. Post-Silicon Validation Expertise - Extensive experience executing silicon validation test plans, maintaining regressions, analyzing results, and identifying root causes of failures across complex hardware systems.
  2. Python, C, and C++ Programming - Strong software development skills used to automate test execution, improve lab efficiency, analyze validation data, and reduce downtime between test cycles.
  3. Hardware Debug and Troubleshooting - Experience with PCB board debugging, socket-based systems, hardware bring-up, and failure analysis using various debug tools in a lab environment.
  4. Cross-Functional Engineering Collaboration - Ability to work effectively with validation, firmware, hardware, and system engineering teams while maintaining a results-oriented approach to execution.

How you will make an impact:
Execute post-silicon validation testing based on defined plans and schedules.
Run, maintain, and monitor silicon system regressions in a lab environment.
Analyze test logs and summarize validation results with clear, actionable insights.
Perform first-level failure analysis and issue triage using hardware and software debugging tools.
Review and validate system updates delivered by partner engineering teams.
Support CPU, GPU, and APU validation activities on loose IC and socket-based platforms.
Identify opportunities to automate testing processes and reduce lab downtime.
Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to resolve technical issues and improve validation coverage.
Maintain accurate reporting and documentation of validation activities and findings.
Ensure testing milestones are completed according to project schedules and quality expectations.

The expertise you bring:
Bachelor's degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
8-10 years of post-silicon validation engineering experience.
8-10 years of experience with Python, C, and C++ programming.
6-10 years of experience debugging PCB boards, socket systems, and hardware platforms.
Experience supporting CPU, GPU, APU, or related silicon validation programs.
Knowledge of Verilog and hardware design concepts.
Strong understanding of hardware architecture, system validation methodologies, and debug techniques.
Experience working independently within lab environments.
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and drive results.
Previous Microsoft experience preferred.

What makes a candidate highly successful in this role:

Successful candidates combine deep silicon validation expertise with strong hands-on hardware debugging skills and a proactive ownership mindset. They are comfortable working independently in lab environments, can quickly diagnose issues on complex hardware platforms, and consistently deliver high-quality test execution against aggressive schedules. Experience with CPU, GPU, or APU validation, socket-based systems, automation development, and data-driven analysis will allow candidates to contribute immediately and provide meaningful insights beyond simple test execution.
