Job Description
The Director of Subscriber Forecasting will lead the development and optimization of forecasting models for subscriber growth, churn, and lifetime value (LTV). This role serves as a strategic liaison across Data Science, Marketing, Finance, and BI teams, ensuring accurate projections, informed decision-making, and optimized marketing investments. This role will help with strategic initiatives, including national and targeted promotions. The ideal candidate combines analytical expertise with strong cross-functional collaboration skills to drive business impact.

Responsibilities

 
  • Own subscriber forecasts and measure performance[VD2.1], including subscriber acquisition by cohort and short- and long-term subscriber retention in close collaboration with the Data Science, marketing and finance teams to help model revenue and future growth trends.
  • Lead process to collect and analyze model inputs across acquisition, retention and partnership leads to incorporate all perspectives and analyze how different promotions and platforms impact the business
     
  • Analyze subscriber growth and churn to identify factors that drive performance, describe reasons for variance to plan and identify potential levers to accelerate business growth.
  • Collaborate with the Data Science, Title Marketing, and Paid Media teams on developing and maintaining forecasts for new starts, churn, and subscriber base.
  • Act as the key liaison between Marketing, Finance, BI, and Data Science teams to ensure alignment on subscriber goals with a seamless forecasting process.
  • Develop platform-level forecasts and allocate marketing budgets using MMM to optimize performance across channels.
  • Provide regular updates on weekly and monthly reporting on pacing, actuals vs. goals, and forecast accuracy.
  • Partner with BI teams to automate reporting and dashboards for the executive team.
  • Develop promotional scenarios with incrementality goals. And perform post-promotion assessments against business case goals to measure impact.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in forecasting, analytics, or strategic planning within subscription-based or media businesses.
  • Strong proficiency in forecasting methodologies, statistical modeling, and scenario planning.
  • Strong understanding of retention cohorts and curves
  • Advanced Excel skills; experience with BI tools and data visualization platforms (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
  • Proficiency in writing and optimizing SQL queries to extract, analyze, and manipulate data.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Curiosity for user experiences powered by machine learning, algorithms and recommendation systems.
  • Experience working with multi-platform products on mobile, web and OTT.

PREFERRED SKILS

  • Experience working in digital streaming domain
  • Familiarity with machine learning techniques and predictive modeling.
  • Ability to develop scripts in Python (or similar languages such as R) for data manipulation and modeling.
  • Capability to work in a fast-paced and constantly changing environment.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Analytical and strategic thinker with strong business acumen.

  • Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and continuous improvement.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Data Analytics, or related field; MBA preferred.
