MySQL DBA

📍 Role: MySQL Database Administrator (DBA)
📍 Location: Sunnyvale, CA or Austin, TX (Onsite – 5 days/week)

🔍 Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced MySQL Database Administrator (DBA) to manage and optimize MySQL databases across production, staging, and development environments. The ideal candidate will ensure high availability, performance, and security of database systems while collaborating closely with engineering and DevOps teams.

💼 Key Responsibilities

• Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain MySQL database environments

• Monitor database performance and perform tuning for optimal efficiency

• Manage backup and recovery processes using tools like mysqldump, mysqlpump, and Percona XtraBackup

• Configure and maintain replication, clustering, and high availability setups

• Troubleshoot database issues including performance bottlenecks and failures

• Optimize slow queries, indexes, and memory utilization

• Implement and enforce database security and access controls

• Use monitoring tools such as MySQL Enterprise Monitor, Prometheus, and Grafana

• Collaborate with developers, DevOps, and infrastructure teams on schema design and query optimization

🛠️ Required Skills

• Strong hands-on experience as a MySQL DBA

• Expertise in database performance tuning and query optimization

• Experience with replication, failover, and high availability architectures

• Proficiency in backup and recovery strategies

• Hands-on experience with monitoring tools (MySQL Enterprise Monitor, Prometheus, Grafana)

• Solid understanding of database security and access management

• Automation/scripting experience using Shell, Python, or Ansible

• Experience working in large-scale or distributed environments
