The team brings together data, application development, and machine learning - including generative AI - along with data services and customer success functions, to help IS&T build solutions more efficiently and streamline the adoption and embedding of generative AI across Apple.
We are seeking an experienced and visionary Engineering Director to lead our Data Services organization. This critical role will be responsible for defining, developing, and managing the data strategy and platforms that underpin our diverse product portfolio, spanning consumer electronics, services, and manufacturing. The data store technologies span diverse data structures, including but not limited to Search, Vector, Graph, Relational, NoSQL, Cache, Queues, and Enterprise Analytics solutions. The successful candidate will drive innovation in data engineering, database management, and both transactional and analytics data platforms to support the company's expansive and evolving data needs.
MS or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field.\n20+ years of progressive experience in large-scale enterprise environments.\nAt least 10 years of focused experience in data engineering, database management, and the development/operation of transactional and analytics data platforms.\nProven leadership in managing and scaling data services for complex, high-volume data ecosystems.\nDeep expertise in modern data architectures, data governance, and data security best practices.\nStrong understanding of the data challenges and opportunities within consumer electronics, services, and manufacturing sectors.\nExceptional communication, strategic thinking, and leadership skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across diverse teams.
Experience with cloud-native data platforms and services (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform).\nFamiliarity with machine learning operations (MLOps) and integrating AI/ML models into data pipelines.\nDemonstrated ability to drive cultural change and adoption of new data technologies.\nExperience in a highly regulated industry or with stringent data compliance requirements.
