Our Public Sector team designs and operates globally distributed cloud-native and edge solutions delivering resilience, performance, and digital trust. Work inside customer environments integrating Akamai capabilities with tactical networks, enterprise systems, and partner technologies.

Partner with the best

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will integrate secure Akamai platform capabilities directly into Defense mission systems through hands-on deployment and validation. Translate operational requirements into secure, scalable, production-ready solutions across engineering and infrastructure domains. Serve as the primary on-site technical representative ensuring successful integration and sustained operational performance.

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be responsible for:
  • Leading on-site integration efforts, serving as engineering interface between customers, product teams, and third-party partners during deployment and test cycles.
  • Designing and deploying secure cloud-native and edge-based solutions using containers, orchestration platforms, and virtualization technologies.
  • Coordinating integration across networking, identity, infrastructure, data flows, and security controls to ensure mission execution.
  • Translating mission requirements into technical designs while influencing product roadmap and architectural decisions.
  • Troubleshooting complex issues spanning Zero Trust identity, OAuth2, OIDC, SAML, networking, infrastructure, and containerized systems.
  • Collaborating with distributed Agile teams to plan, deploy, and sustain integrated capabilities in customer environments.

Do what you love

To be successful in this role you will:
  • Have 5 years of experience in software engineering, systems engineering, technical integration roles or it's equivalent
  • Possess hands-on expertise with Linux or Unix, Python or shell scripting, Git, Docker or Podman, Kubernetes or ECS.
  • Exhibit knowledge of Zero Trust architectures including OAuth2, SAML, OIDC, identity-aware routing, and privilege controls.
  • Possess active Secret clearance and maintain DoD 8140-compliant certification such as Security+ or CISSP.

Compensation

Akamai is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. For US based candidates only - the base salary for this position ranges from $121,400 - $218,600/year; a candidate's salary is determined by various factors including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and location. Compensation for candidates outside the US will vary. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of annual bonus or incentives, equity awards and an Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP). Akamai provides industry-leading benefits including healthcare, 401K savings plan, company holidays, vacation (in the form of PTO), sick time, family friendly benefits including parental leave and an employee assistance program including a focus on mental and financial wellness; Eligibility requirements apply.
