Location:- Washington – DC ( Remote)

Duration:- Long-term contract

Maximo developer will not be a suitable for this role.

This is a remote role; candidate need to come onsite once in a quarter for PI meeting to Washington – DC.

Essential Functions :

• Provide technical leadership for multiple concurrent IBM Maximo upgrade, migration, integration, and modernization projects.
• Serve as the lead technical resource for IBM Maximo 7.5, Maximo 7.6, and IBM Maximo Application Suite 9 environments.
• Provide hands-on technical support for Maximo architecture, configuration, customization, integration, deployment, troubleshooting, and performance analysis.
• Lead or provide technical direction for the re-platforming and upgrade of existing Maximo 7.5 environments to Maximo 7.6.
• Lead infrastructure migration activities involving the movement of existing Maximo environments from VMware to Microsoft Hyper-V or another approved hosting platform.
• Provide technical leadership for database migration and upgrade activities, including the migration of existing Oracle 11 environments to Oracle 12 or another supported database platform.
• Assess existing application, integration, database, middleware, and infrastructure components to identify compatibility issues, technical dependencies, risks, and remediation requirements.
• Design and review technical solutions that address application, database, infrastructure, security, integration, performance, availability, and operational-support requirements.
• Configure and troubleshoot Maximo integrations, including integration objects, enterprise services, publish channels, invocation channels, external systems, message queues, cron tasks, endpoint configurations, and related integration components.
• Analyze complex application and integration issues across multiple technology layers, including Maximo, WebSphere Application Server, IBM HTTP Server, databases, operating systems, middleware, network connections, certificates, and external systems.
• Lead root-cause analysis for complex production and non-production incidents, including performance degradation, integration failures, message-processing backlogs, application errors, deployment failures, and environment availability issues.
• Work with incomplete, ambiguous, or evolving requirements to define the technical problem, identify assumptions, evaluate options, and recommend an implementation approach.
• Translate business and operational requirements into practical technical designs, implementation plans, deployment procedures, and testing strategies.
• Make technical decisions within the assigned area of responsibility, clearly documenting alternatives, assumptions, dependencies, risks, and expected impacts.
• Take ownership of technical work from initial analysis through solution design, implementation, testing, deployment, validation, documentation, and production support.
• Develop, review, and validate implementation plans, migration plans, rollback procedures, test plans, deployment checklists, and operational-support documentation.
• Establish technical standards and repeatable practices for Maximo configuration, integration, deployment, troubleshooting, and environment management.
• Review technical designs, configurations, scripts, code changes, database changes, and deployment packages for quality, supportability, security, and alignment with the approved architecture.
• Coordinate technical activities across application development, infrastructure, database, networking, cybersecurity, quality assurance, vendor, and business teams.
• Identify technical risks, blockers, resource dependencies, and scheduling conflicts early and communicate them clearly to project leadership and affected teams.
• Ensure that solutions meet functional, technical, security, performance, availability, recoverability, and maintainability requirements.
• Support system testing, integration testing, performance testing, regression testing, user acceptance testing, deployment validation, and post-implementation verification.
• Provide technical support during planned deployments, maintenance activities, system upgrades, production changes, and critical incident resolution, including activities scheduled outside normal business hours when required.
• Produce clear and accurate technical documentation, including architecture diagrams, configuration documents, troubleshooting procedures, implementation instructions, technical assessments, and decision records.
• Communicate complex technical issues clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Operate independently, manage competing priorities, and deliver assigned work with minimal supervision.
• Stay current with supported IBM Maximo and MAS technologies, platform requirements, integration capabilities, database technologies, infrastructure platforms, and enterprise security standards.

Qualifications :

• Extensive professional experience supporting and implementing enterprise asset management systems, with significant hands-on experience in IBM Maximo 7.5 and 7.6.
• Hands-on experience with IBM Maximo Application Suite 9, including its architecture, configuration, deployment model, integrations, and operational support requirements.
• Advanced knowledge of the Maximo Integration Framework and related integration technologies.
• Demonstrated experience leading Maximo upgrade, migration, re-platforming, or modernization projects.
• Experience migrating enterprise applications between infrastructure or virtualization platforms, such as VMware and Microsoft Hyper-V.
• Experience supporting Oracle database upgrades or migrations in enterprise application environments.
• Strong understanding of WebSphere Application Server, IBM HTTP Server, Java-based enterprise applications, relational databases, middleware, networking, SSL/TLS certificates, and system integrations.
• Proven ability to troubleshoot complex issues involving multiple systems, teams, and technology layers.
• Demonstrated experience delivering complex technical initiatives from planning through production implementation.
• Ability to make independent technical decisions and operate effectively with minimal oversight.
• Strong technical writing, documentation, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Fluent written and spoken English.
• Experience working in a technical lead or solution-lead role on projects of similar size and complexity.
• Experience migrating legacy Maximo environments to IBM Maximo Application Suite.
• Experience with Red Hat OpenShift, containerized application platforms, or cloud-hosted enterprise applications.
• Experience supporting highly available and business-critical Maximo environments.
• Experience with application and database performance tuning.
• Experience coordinating work with system integrators, software vendors, infrastructure providers, and managed-service partners.
• Familiarity with enterprise change management, cybersecurity, disaster recovery, audit, and production-support processes.

1. Maximo 7.5/7.6 vs. MAS 9 – Which Experience Is Most Critical?

The requirement references Maximo 7.5, 7.6, and MAS 9, along with legacy modernization initiatives. Is the immediate priority upgrading existing Maximo 7.5 environments to 7.6, or are you also actively migrating workloads to MAS 9? Would you consider a candidate with extensive hands-on Maximo 7.5/7.6 upgrade experience but limited MAS 9 implementation experience, or is direct MAS 9 expertise a firm requirement?

RB – 7.5/7.6 is most critical

2. Infrastructure & Database Migration – Hands-On Implementation vs. Technical Oversight

The position includes VMware-to-Hyper-V infrastructure migrations and Oracle 11-to-12 database upgrades. Are you looking for someone who has personally performed these migrations at the infrastructure and database level, or someone who understands the technical dependencies, compatibility requirements, and migration strategies well enough to lead and coordinate the infrastructure and DBA teams?

RB – Hands on & Tech Oversight.  This person will likely not be involved in the VMWare-to-HyperV if we can accomplish the 7.6 upgrade by March.  We do have a DBA team.  Primarily and understanding of technical dependencies and compatibility requirements are what we are looking for.

3. Maximo Integration Framework & Technical Troubleshooting – Depth of Expertise

How critical is advanced, hands-on Maximo Integration Framework (MIF) experience, including enterprise services, publish channels, message queues, cron tasks, and external system integrations? Would you consider this a primary technical requirement alongside WebSphere administration and production troubleshooting, or are the immediate deliverables more focused on platform upgrades, infrastructure migration, and overall environment modernization?
