Summary

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce's client in Lansing, MI is seeking a SDET. They are looking to strengthen its quality engineering capabilities by modernizing test automation practices and improving cross-team quality ownership within Agile delivery teams. The environment emphasizes continuous integration, scalable engineering practices, and shared responsibility for software quality across development and testing functions.

Key Responsibilities:
* Collaborate with Agile feature teams to review user stories, define acceptance criteria, and encourage a test-first approach during refinement and design discussions
* Design, build, and maintain scalable test automation frameworks for both UI and API testing using modern tools such as Playwright and TypeScript (or equivalent technologies)
* Support the transition from legacy automation tools and frameworks (e.g., Selenium with Java, Postman/Newman) to unified, maintainable CI/CD-aligned test solutions
* Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines to ensure fast feedback loops and reliable release validation
* Contribute to manual and exploratory testing efforts for features and workflows not yet covered by automation, including test case design and execution support
* Develop automated API tests (REST/SOAP) and end-to-end test suites covering functional and non-functional requirements
* Participate in code reviews and contribute to test architecture decisions focused on maintainability, reusability, and scalability
* Write SQL queries to validate data integrity and support test data setup and verification
* Partner with engineering teams to ensure traceability between requirements, test cases, and defect tracking
* Act as a quality engineering advocate by mentoring peers and contributing to continuous improvement of testing practices across teams
* Support compliance and quality standards, including security, audit readiness, and regulated environment requirements (e.g., HIPAA where applicable)

REQUIREMENTS:
* Hands-on experience with Playwright (TypeScript preferred) or similar automation frameworks (e.g., Cypress)
* Experience building or maintaining UI and API test automation frameworks
* Background in transitioning from legacy tools such as Selenium (Java) and Postman/Newman to modern automation approaches
* Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines and integrating automated testing into DevOps workflows
* Experience with API testing (REST and/or SOAP) and end-to-end test automation
* Proficiency in SQL for data validation and test data management
* Familiarity with test management and traceability tools (e.g., TestRail, qTest, QMetry)
* Experience with reporting, dashboards, and quality metrics in an engineering environment
* Ability to collaborate effectively within Agile teams and contribute to shared quality ownership
* Needs to understand why they are doing what they are doing and be able to clearly articulate it to others (not an order taker)
