Staff Plant Engineer - Saxonburg, PA

PURPOSE

Focuses on optimizing and advancing process technologies within production facilities. This position is responsible for leading engineering teams to develop and implement innovative solutions that enhance safety, efficiency, and sustainability. By collaborating with cross-functional teams, the role ensures that processes are compliant with industry standards and continuously improved to meet operational goals.

The Staff Plant Engineer is responsible for the technical availability of assigned assets including, but not limited to, maintenance/reliability (including turn around) activities, planning and execution of investments, and identification and implementation of process technology improvements. They also ensure equipment / process safety and regulatory compliance of assigned assets.

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Ensures the operability, reliability, and functional integrity of the assigned assets;
  • Manages larger/complex turn arounds of the assigned assets (break/fix);
  • Plans, executes, and monitors multiple basic budget/mid-sized investments; participates in the planning and execution of major investments in his/her area of responsibility;
  • Takes responsibility for troubleshooting asset and process problems;
  • Takes responsibility for identifying, evaluating, and implementing equipment / process modifications to eliminate deficiencies and bottlenecks;
  • Assures compliance with technical rules and regulations as well as with company policies, statutes, and operational excellence practices;
  • Keeps and updates technical documentation and records;
  • Coordinates internal and external service providers;
  • Execution of smaller projects from planning to start up;
  • Identifies, evaluates, and implements technical knowledge and best practice transfer between the plant engineers;
  • Works with site management on a regular basis;
  • Works with other plant functional areas and team members daily;
  • Works with other plant engineers and technicians daily ;
  • Works with professional companies such as architects, engineers, and contractors for maintenance and technology troubleshooting and equipment projects.

WHO YOU ARE

Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Related Field;
  • 7 - years progressive experience in engineering and plant operations with direct experience in automated production processes, equipment support, and technical good practices;
  • Demonstrated leadership skills including strong communication, interpersonal, collaboration, and relationship building;
  • Demonstrated project management skills including planning, budget management, and team oversight;
  • Good knowledge of engineering tools and skills;
  • Good understanding of supporting processes associated with the operations and maintenance of a production plant.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • MS in Engineering or MBA;
  • Knowledge of Bayer technical practices and standards;
  • Knowledge of medical device process technology as well as understanding of medical device regulations.

Employees can expect to be paid a salary between $96,480.00 to $144,720.00. Additional compensation may include a bonus or incentive compensation (if relevant). Additional benefits include health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, sick leave, etc..

This salary range is merely an estimate and may vary based on an applicant's location, market data/ranges, an applicant's skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications, and other relevant factors.
