The Klein Leadership Program Industrial Engineer is responsible for performing basic analyses on people, operations, data, equipment and facilities. This position will recommend ways to increase productivity in order to reduce costs and/or increase margins while maximizing utilization of people, ergonomics, equipment, and space. The IE I will also process Engineering Change Orders to maintain all current products in PRMS, as well as maintain quarterly archives of product structure, routings, costing, and Master Layouts for their primary plant assignment.

1. Utilize IE tools and Project Management techniques, under managerial supervision, to identify, analyze, document, implement, and sustain Cost Savings and Margin Improvements to optimize productivity, quality & safety in primary assigned plants. Tools include, but are not limited to, Time Studies, 6S, Lean, Six Sigma, Value Stream Mapping, Capacity Analyses, Performance Management data analyses & Standard Work creation.
2. Create cost analyses to quantify proposed changes to costs and Earned Hours as well as track realized savings of implemented projects for primary assigned plants.
3. Archive and research historical routing and costing data at primary assigned plant. Provide data mining of current and archival product and performance data by creating basic queries to extract data and reformat into easily discernable spreadsheets, pivot tables, charts, and graphs.
4. Provide support, assist with training, and assist with maintenance of ShopVue Operator Performance Management system at primary assigned plant.
5. Process Product Lifecycle Management system (Agile) Engineering Change Orders to establish and maintain product structure, bill of materials, and routings in PRMS system (AS400) for Primary plant.
6. Utilize basic AutoCad skills to provide best practice solutions to create layouts for new equipment and layout changes to optimize product flow, increase output, maximize productivity, and prioritize ergonomics and safety, while optimizing utilization of space in Primary assigned plant. Maintain Master Layout to reflect current equipment, operation, structural, and security equipment at Primary assigned plant.
7. Assist with project management of projects that result in successful implementation within schedule, on-budget, and achieving expected objectives with the assistance of IE manager.
8. Utilize basic communication skills (verbal, written, and presentational) to present opportunity proposals, gain buy-in, assist with trainings, provide project updates, minimize risks, and build a foundation of trust and respect with all stakeholders (team members, operators, supervisors, managers and executives).
9. Performs work safely to prevent on-the-job injuries by following Company and OSHA safety rules and regulations, understanding machine safeguards, recognizing, and reporting safety hazards, wearing required PPE.
10. Be able to adapt and function in an environment of changing goals and priorities often under tight time constraints.
11. Perform other duties as assigned within the nature and level of work.

Qualifications

Experience with Auto CAD and Mini Tab preferred. Ability to applying Industrial Engineering fundamentals and principles to manufacturing activities. Planning and organizational skills. Professional oral and written communication within a team environment. Experience utilizing Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word). Ability to prioritize projects based on solution impact, time to implement, and/or direction from leadership. Ability to adapt and function in an environment of changing priorities often under tight time constraints.

Physical Demand Requirements

Occasionally required to stand, walk or sit; use hands to grasp, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; use fingers to touch, pick or pinch objects; reach with hands and arms; push or pull; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; use foot or leg controls; talk and hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 25 pounds. For all jobs, no one should lift over 50lbs on their own. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
