We are seeking an experienced IRL / Blood Bank Manager to lead and oversee blood bank and immunohematology laboratory operations near Elmwood Park, IL.

This leadership opportunity is ideal for a qualified laboratory professional with strong blood bank experience and the ability to manage laboratory operations, staff, quality initiatives, and regulatory compliance. The manager will play a critical role in ensuring accurate, timely, and safe blood bank services while supporting a collaborative and patient-centered environment.
Key Responsibilities\n

Oversee the daily operations of the Blood Bank and Immunohematology Reference Laboratory (IRL).
\n - \n
Provide leadership, supervision, and technical guidance to laboratory staff.
\n - \n
Ensure accurate and timely performance of blood bank and immunohematology testing.
\n - \n
Oversee blood product inventory, compatibility testing, transfusion services, and related laboratory processes.
\n - \n
Develop, implement, and monitor quality control and quality assurance programs.
\n - \n
Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory, accreditation, and safety standards.
\n - \n
Manage staffing, scheduling, performance evaluations, and employee development.
\n - \n
Recruit, train, and mentor laboratory personnel as needed.
\n - \n
Monitor laboratory workflows, productivity, and operational performance.
\n - \n
Assist with troubleshooting complex testing issues and resolving technical problems.
\n - \n
Maintain appropriate policies, procedures, and documentation.
\n - \n
Collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, laboratory leadership, and other clinical departments.
\n - \n
Participate in process improvement initiatives and support the implementation of new technologies or procedures.
\n - \n
Promote a culture of quality, accountability, teamwork, and patient safety.
\n
Qualifications\n
\n - \n
College degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a related field required.
\n - \n
ASCP and/or SBB certification required.
\n - \n
Prior blood bank and laboratory leadership/management experience required.
\n - \n
Strong knowledge of immunohematology and transfusion medicine.
\n - \n
Experience with laboratory quality management and regulatory requirements.
\n - \n
Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
\n - \n
Strong critical-thinking and problem-solving abilities.
\n - \n
Ability to effectively lead a multidisciplinary laboratory team.
