Job Details

Software Engineer (Java / AWS) - Contract-to-Hire

**Location:** North America (Remote/Hybrid Depending on Location)

**Important:** Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States on a permanent basis. Sponsorship and visa transfers are not available for this position.

Position Overview

We are seeking a Software Engineer with strong Java development experience and exposure to AWS cloud technologies to join a growing engineering team responsible for designing, developing, deploying, and supporting mission-critical software solutions.

This is a hands-on engineering role where you'll participate in the full software development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, architecture, development, testing, deployment, troubleshooting, and production support. The ideal candidate is a collaborative problem solver who enjoys building scalable applications, improving system performance, and supporting software throughout its lifecycle.

This position offers the opportunity to work on complex, customer-facing software products within an Agile environment while collaborating with product, delivery, and support teams.

Key Responsibilities

Software Development

* Design, develop, enhance, and maintain enterprise software applications using Java
* Participate in all phases of the software development lifecycle (SDLC)
* Write clean, scalable, and maintainable code
* Analyze business and technical requirements and translate them into software solutions
* Refactor and optimize applications for performance, scalability, and reliability

Cloud & Deployment

* Develop and support applications hosted within AWS cloud environments
* Participate in application deployments, configuration management, and release activities
* Support CI/CD processes and deployment automation initiatives
* Assist with system configuration and production support activities

Quality & Engineering Excellence

* Conduct peer code reviews and provide constructive feedback
* Participate in testing strategies including unit, integration, and regression testing
* Troubleshoot software defects and implement sustainable solutions
* Create and maintain technical documentation, installation guides, and troubleshooting procedures

Production Support & Maintenance

* Investigate and resolve production issues
* Support software releases and deployments in customer environments
* Collaborate with support and delivery teams to identify root causes and implement corrective actions
* Participate in occasional after-hours support activities as needed

Agile Collaboration

* Work within Agile development teams utilizing Scrum and Agile best practices
* Participate in sprint planning, backlog grooming, standups, retrospectives, and release planning
* Collaborate closely with product owners, architects, QA teams, and business stakeholders

Required Qualifications

* Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field
* 3-7 years of professional software development experience
* Strong experience with Java application development
* Experience working within AWS cloud environments
* Experience developing RESTful APIs and backend services
* Experience with relational databases and SQL
* Understanding of object-oriented design principles and software architecture patterns
* Experience with Git-based source control systems
* Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
* Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments

Preferred Qualifications

* Experience with Spring Boot and modern Java frameworks
* Experience with microservices architecture
* Experience with Docker and containerized deployments
* Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
* Experience supporting customer-facing enterprise applications
* Experience with performance tuning and application scalability initiatives
* Previous experience in production support and software maintenance environments
