Posting Description
INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY (IT) SUPPORT SPECIALIST, Laboratory for Nuclear Science , provides direct desktop and end-user technology support for the two LNS facilities in Cambridge and Middleton and is responsible for analyzing and resolving Information Technology (IT) hardware, software, network, and security issues on a day-to-day basis and serving as the primary user-facing contact for assigned incidents and service requests.

Job Requirements
REQUIRED : Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, engineering, mathematics, physics, or a related field; a minimum of three years of relevant work experience in desktop and end-user support in a Windows or Macintosh environment, including installing, configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting computers, operating systems, printers, peripherals, productivity applications, email clients, VPNs, software, and network connectivity; ability to diagnose technical problems, establish priorities, manage multiple requests, and follow issues through completion, with strong customer service and interpersonal skills; strong written and verbal communication skills in order to communicate technical information clearly and provide courteous, patient, and professional service to users with varying levels of technical experience; ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with other technical specialists; ability to lift 20 lbs. and to move and install computers, monitors, printers, and related equipment with reasonable accommodation; and ability to travel regularly between Middleton and Cambridge by car. PREFERRED : Experience supporting users in a scientific, engineering, research, laboratory, or higher education environment; experience supporting engineering or scientific applications such as SolidWorks, COMSOL Multiphysics, or ANSYS; familiarity with network, license, server, and endpoint management tools; software development; remote support; and asset management; experience using Artificial Intelligence (AI) for IT-related design, configuration, and troubleshooting projects; experience supporting conference room technology, mobile devices, and facility applications; and familiarity with MIT computing services and security requirements.

This role is split between the MIT campus in Cambridge, MA, and the MIT Bates Research and Engineering Center in Middleton, MA. Travel between locations by car is required.
