GovCIO is seeking an IA Engineer (DSO) to lead a team of data professionals in support of Veterans Affairs ensuring the full lifecycl e of the Veteran experience is properly ingested, driving program and process improvements. This position will be fully remote within the United States position.
Responsibilities- Overall responsible for publishing, training, and maintaining DevOps and Infrastructure policies
- Implement predefined security and standards processes/tools/configurations
- Implement Data Governance aligned with Strategic guidance
- Lead Infrastructure as Code Initiatives
- Support DSO activities as tasked with priority to those DSO activities and Lead DSO activities with lower priority for delivery
- Strategize on the publicationMonitoringGuidance, aligned with Operations Management Lead and Lead Data Engineer, for Monitoring and Alerting
- Facilitate the Implementation and management of monitoring solutions to proactively identify potential issues and address them before they impact production.
- Oversee the Configuration and maintenance of alerting mechanisms to notify relevant teams about critical system events.
- Participate in the Implementation and maintenance of performance monitoring tools to track system performance, identifying and addressing bottlenecks and performance issues.
- Collaborate with infrastructure teams to optimize system performance and resource utilization.
Continuous Improvement: - Identify opportunities for process improvement and automation to enhance the efficiency of production support and operational activities.
- Stay current with industry's best practices and emerging technologies relevant to operations management.
- Identify and implement fully automated deployment workflows for data pipelines, APIs, and container-based workloads.
Comply/Facilitate compliance with published Security standards in the ATO Boundary: - Ensure that the production environment complies with relevant regulatory requirements and security standards.
- Collaborate with security teams to address vulnerabilities and implement security best practices.
- Automate compliance checks, configuration audits and vulnerability reporting.
QualificationsThe DSO Engineer performs work requiring in-depth knowledge and understanding of a particular field or technical discipline.
The DSO Engineer may have experience:
- Conducting independent, complex analysis, concept formulation, and application of new methods.
- Demonstrated ability to perform as a recognized expert in specifications and/or utilization in given domain, lead and contributes in the analysis, specification, design, development and implementation/integration of requirements
Required Skills and Experience: - Bachelor's degree in engineering, Computer Science, Systems, Business or related scientific /technical discipline 12 years (or commensurate experience)
- 4 years of additional relevant experience may be substituted for education
- Experience with CICD process
- Experience with Terraform Cloud formation, AWS, Azure Databricks, Synapse, Data Factory, Spark, GitHub
Clearance Required: Ability to obtain and maintain a Suitability/Public Trust clearance.
Preferred Skills and Experience - Active VA public Trust
- Familiarity with Agile concepts and best practices a plus.
- Familiarity with CloudStrike, Dynatrace, PowerBI.
- Previous Department of Veterans Affairs experience preferred.
