- The Principal Test Engineer is responsible for leading the planning, development, execution, and documentation of verification and validation activities for deliverable complex hardware or integrated systems. This role provides technical leadership, ensures full requirement coverage, and drives test excellence across program lifecycles.
As a Systems Test Engineer, you will:
- Develop and maintain test documentation including test plans, procedures, and readiness reports.
- Execute system-level testing across integration, functional, performance, and environmental domains.
- Ensure requirements verification and maintain full traceability of test artifacts.
- Analyze test outcomes, conduct root-cause investigations, and drive corrective actions.
- Lead technical reviews including peer assessments, readiness evaluations, and design validations.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with systems, design, quality, manufacturing, and program leadership teams.
- Mentor junior engineers by providing technical guidance and fostering professional growth.
- Ensure compliance with safety, security, and export control standards.
- Drive process improvements through automation initiatives and test capability enhancements.
Requirements:
- 8+ years of experience in system or subsystem-level testing (hardware, software, RF, EO/IR, radar, or equivalent).
- Strong expertise in requirements analysis, verification, and validation methodologies.
- Hands-on proficiency with test instrumentation, data acquisition tools, and defect/root-cause analysis.
- Technical documentation skills with experience preparing formal test reports.
- Leadership ability to guide cross-functional teams and mentor junior engineers.
- Problem-solving mindset with strong analytical and decision-making skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with automated test frameworks and scripting (Python, MATLAB, LabVIEW).
- Familiarity with system architecture, modeling, or simulation.
- Background in defense, aerospace, or regulated environments.
- Knowledge of environmental test standards (vibration, thermal, EMC/EMI).
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage dynamic workloads.
This is a contract role.
Clearance: Interim Secret
Ideal candidate will have:
- Experienced Test Engineer with 8+ years in system or subsystem-level testing (hardware, RF, radar, EO/IR, or equivalent).
- Strong technical expertise in requirements analysis, verification/validation, and defect/root-cause analysis.
- Hands-on proficiency with test instrumentation, data acquisition tools, and technical documentation.
- Collaborative leader who can mentor junior engineers and drive cross-functional technical decisions.
- Automation-oriented with skills in Python, MATLAB, or LabVIEW to enhance test efficiency.
- Defense/aerospace background with knowledge of environmental test standards and Interim Secret clearance.
- Detail-driven professional with strong organizational skills, initiative, and accountability.
Qualifications:
- Requires a bachelor s degree in electrical engineering and 8+ years of prior experience in Test Engineering.
Pay range: $90 to $100/Hr
