Description: Overview We are seeking a highly skilled Field Test Engineer with strong experience in wireless device testing, field mobility testing, and telecom technologies including LTE, 5G NR, CDMA, and EVDO.
This role involves executing field interoperability tests, troubleshooting device performance, and evaluating next-generation wireless products. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Qualcomm tools, field test tools, scripting, and AI/ML platforms.
Field & Mobility Testing - Execute field and mobility driving test cases for development and maintenance releases.
- Prepare devices for testing (software loading, test tools configuration, logs setup).
- Create or update test routes based on new network features.
- Perform sanity, stability, functionality, stress, and feature testing.
Device & Network Validation - Conduct FIT (Field Interoperability Testing) as per QA test plans.
- Test and troubleshoot hardware, embedded software, and wireless protocols.
- Evaluate new wireless products, accessories, and features through lab simulations.
- Run FIT test plans for major US carriers (e.g., Verizon, US Cellular).
Reporting & Documentation - Log defects and draft issues in PLM or relevant platforms.
- Prepare detailed engineering reports and daily field test summaries.
- Analyze test results and submit evaluation reports to development teams.
- Create test designs, test cases, and testing documentation.
Collaboration - Work effectively with cross-functional engineering teams.
- Communicate defects, performance issues, and test outcomes clearly.
- Ensure testing standards and procedures are followed through all lifecycle phases.
Education & Experience - Bachelor's degree in Telecommunications, Computer Science, or related field.
- 5+ years of telecom or technical engineering experience.
Technical Skills - Hands-on experience with field test tools:
QXDM, QCAT, TEMS, Nemo, QPST, XCAL/XCAP, WindCatcher, Actix, etc. - Strong knowledge of LTE, 5G NR, CDMA, EVDO.
- Experience with post-processing tools and log analysis.
- Familiarity with operating systems: Windows, macOS, Linux.
- Experience with Spirent/Metrico tools (NOMAD, MUSE, Datum) is a plus.
- Ability to design and maintain test scripts using Python, JavaScript, etc.
- Exposure to AI/ML platforms and APIs (TensorFlow, PyTorch, Hugging Face, OpenAI, Azure AI Studio).
