Who we want:

Stryker is seeking a Senior Staff Electrical Engineer to join our Advanced Operations team, supporting the Neurosurgical Business Unit. More specifically, we are seeking an Electrical Engineer with software experience in a regulated environment. You will have the opportunity to work on the design transfer of new products from research through development and into production.

What you will do:

Technical Responsibilities:
  • Develop and maintain manufacturing test software, owning the end-of-line functional circuit tester development. Provide debugging and support during NPI builds.
  • Integrate Firmware Releases and Diagnostic API (Application Programming Interface).
  • Collaborate with internal teams and contract manufacturers to establish efficient processes for electro-mechanical assembly, including PCBA manufacturing, potting, soldering, pressing, plastic injection molding, torquing, and manual assembly.
  • Design and develop requirements, prototypes, and solutions to deliver electrical systems for surgical applications.
  • Produce detailed electrical and electronic designs and release the associated documentation.
  • Work closely with manufacturing, quality assurance, engineering teams, and program management to deliver high-quality products.
  • Contribute to the construction and evaluation of electrical prototypes.
  • Apply strong knowledge of medical-industry manufacturing standards and quality documentation practices.
  • Lead or support capital equipment acquisition including specification, vendor negotiation, installation, and validation.
  • Ensure process and product quality meets defined operational and material specifications.
  • Select components and equipment based on performance requirements, reliability, and regulatory considerations.
  • Partner with quality engineers to establish component-level testing and inspection requirements.
  • Evaluate equipment performance, conduct experiments, and analyze resulting data.
  • Participate in PFMEA, Control Plan development, SOP creation, and PPAP activities for product transfers and launches.
  • Conduct capability studies for in-process inspections and generate corresponding inspection documentation.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related discipline
  • 6+ years of work experience

Preferred Skills:
  • Experience designing electronic hardware (PCBs, cables) with an emphasis on manufacturability
  • Skilled in reading electrical schematics, CAD drawings, and product architecture diagrams
  • Experience with ICT, FCT, safety testing, and functional testing practices
  • Experience with PCBA DFM and high-volume manufacturing processes
  • Familiarity with end-of-line test software for complex PCBAs and high-level console assemblies
  • Ability to perform intricate electrical stackups
