Application Programmer

Genesis10 is currently seeking a Hadoop Developer for a contract position with a Global Financial Institution located in Charlotte, NC. This is a 12+ month contract opportunity.

This role involves the full development lifecycle of Big Data solutions, from requirements gathering to deployment. The ideal candidate will be a mid- to senior-level developer responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing applications within the Hadoop ecosystem. This position requires a highly self-managed and proactive individual who can thrive in dynamic environments with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities:

• Participate in the full development lifecycle: requirements gathering, design, development, documentation, testing, and deployment
• Develop, test, and optimize Hadoop/Spark applications
• Troubleshoot data issues and support production environments
• Interact regularly with local managers, Agile team members, and business stakeholders
• Spot opportunities for process optimization and automation to improve efficiency
• Prioritize and manage multiple workstreams while driving end-to-end delivery

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent
• Mid to senior level experience as a Hadoop Developer designing and optimizing Big Data solutions
• Strong ETL skills with deep experience in Hadoop and Big Data technologies (HDFS, Hive, Spark)
• Proficiency in Apache Spark, including performance tuning and troubleshooting
• Solid PL/SQL and RDBMS knowledge
• Advanced Unix/Unix shell scripting skills
• Strong understanding of Data Warehousing concepts, scheduling tools, and automation/scripting
• Knowledge of Bitbucket, Gradle, Jenkins, Ansible, and CI/CD pipelines
• Excellent data and code analysis abilities, including diagnosing data quality issues and performing root-cause analysis
• Experience working in Agile teams

Desired skills:

• Experience using AI-assisted tools to improve development, testing, and troubleshooting
• Strong Python scripting skills
• Experience participating in or leading Proofs of Concept (POCs)
• Experience in Enterprise Credit Risk or broader financial risk platforms

Pay Range: $55.06 - $63.06
