Summary

Role : SailPoint IdentityIQ (IIQ) Test Engineer

Duration : 12 months, with possible extension

Work Location: HYBRID in Minneapolis, MN

1. Role Overview

Purpose: Provide sustained testing and quality assurance support for Client’s SailPoint IAM platform, including enhancements, integrations, application onboarding, upgrades, patches, configuration changes, and recurring operational testing.

Recommended baseline: Require strong SailPoint IdentityIQ testing experience and IAM fundamentals. Treat automation, scripting, and IdentityNow/ISC experience as differentiators unless the client confirms they are mandatory.

2. Initial Skills to Validate

Must-have technical skills

  • 3–5+ years of software testing experience, preferably focused on IAM.
  • Hands-on SailPoint IdentityIQ/IIQ experience, including implementation, configuration, and testing.
  • Experience testing identity lifecycle processes, including joiner/mover/leaver scenarios.
  • Experience testing access requests, approvals, provisioning, deprovisioning, certifications, recertifications, roles, entitlements, and policy violations.
  • Experience with functional, integration, regression, upgrade, data validation, and user acceptance testing.
  • Ability to create test plans, test cases, scripts, scenarios, expected results, and test evidence.
  • Experience testing SailPoint connectors and integrations, such as Active Directory, LDAP, HR systems, databases, REST/SOAP APIs, and downstream applications.
  • Ability to validate identity data, account links, entitlements, aggregation results, and provisioning events.
  • Experience testing SailPoint upgrades, patches, workflows, rules, forms, policies, and configuration changes.
  • Experience with defect tracking and test management tools such as Jira, ServiceNow, Azure DevOps, or equivalent.
  • Ability to analyze SailPoint logs, failed jobs, provisioning errors, and integration responses.
  • Understanding of IAM security principles, least privilege, access governance, auditability, and compliance requirements.
  • Ability to work with requirements and maintain a requirements-to-test traceability matrix.

Nice-to-have skills

  • SailPoint IdentityIQ 8.x upgrade experience.
  • SailPoint Identity Security Cloud/IdentityNow experience.
  • Basic understanding of Java, BeanShell, Groovy, SQL, REST APIs, or XML.
  • Test automation experience using Selenium, Postman, REST-assured, or comparable tools.
  • Experience in a regulated utility, energy, financial, healthcare, or other highly controlled environment.
  • Experience supporting Agile teams, sprint testing, release planning, and production validation.
  • Experience working with large application portfolios and distributed stakeholders.

3. Initial Job Duties to Validate

  1. Review, organize, and rationalize existing Excel-based and other SailPoint test scripts.
  2. Develop and maintain a 12-month SailPoint test strategy, test plan, and execution schedule.
  3. Map test cases to business, functional, technical, and security requirements.
  4. Build and execute test scenarios for identity lifecycle events, access requests, approvals, provisioning, deprovisioning, aggregation, reconciliation, certifications, roles, entitlements, policies, and application onboarding.
  5. Support testing of SailPoint enhancements, configuration changes, integrations, patches, and upgrades.
  6. Perform functional, integration, regression, negative, security, and data validation testing.
  7. Validate results across development, test, QA, and production-like environments.
  8. Capture detailed test evidence, including results, screenshots, logs, data validation, and timestamps.
  9. Document, prioritize, and track defects through resolution.
  10. Participate in defect triage, root-cause discussions, retesting, and regression testing.
  11. Monitor batch jobs, aggregation activities, provisioning events, workflows, and failed transactions.
  12. Participate in design and requirements reviews, providing input on testability, risks, and potential defects.
  13. Coordinate with SailPoint administrators, IAM architects, application owners, developers, security teams, and business testers.
  14. Prepare test completion reports, defect summaries, risk assessments, and release-readiness recommendations.
  15. Provide weekly status reporting and communicate schedule, risks, dependencies, and issues.
  16. Support operational or recurring testing throughout the engagement, not just a single upgrade cycle.
  17. Create reusable test assets, standards, templates, and knowledge-transfer materials.
