DSP Algorithms Engineer

Location: El Segundo, California (Onsite)

Role Overview

As a DSP Algorithms Engineer, you will design and develop state-of-the-art, space-based communication systems for commercial, civil, and/or national security programs. You will contribute to a team that works with domestic or international customers on satellite systems. Project assignments span the unit life cycle, from internal trades and system definition to satellite unit development and test.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop next-generation RF and digital satellite communication systems.
• Develop and verify multi-rate, fixed-point signal processing algorithms.
• Conduct performance analysis of signal processing models.
• Perform waveform development and characterization.
• Perform trade studies on system design and architecture.
• Support integration and test of payloads and spacecraft from unit level through in-orbit operations.
• Support HDL-level design and verification.
• Perform detailed system design and verification activities.
• Lead engineering teams and internal research and development (IR&D) activities.

Required Qualifications

Education: A Bachelor of Science degree is required in engineering, engineering technology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.

Experience: This position requires five or more years of experience in core digital communications and signal processing theory. It also requires three or more years of experience in systems engineering, including requirements definition, allocation, verification, architecture design, and trade design.

Technical Skills:

• Experience in Digital Signal Processing (DSP) and Digital Communications algorithms and techniques, such as equalization, turbo/viterbi coding/decoding, channel estimation, and filter design.
• Three or more years of experience with Matlab or Simulink.
• One or more years of experience working with FPGAs or ASICs.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with lab equipment such as an oscilloscope, waveform generator, or spectrum analyzer.
• Experience leading teams of engineers.
• Fourteen or more years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience.
