Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced BI Platform Engineer to manage and support the end-to-end lifecycle of an Omni Analytics / Embedded BI platform integrated with Databricks.

This role combines BI platform administration, data modeling, semantic-layer development, embedded analytics, performance optimization, and production monitoring. The ideal candidate should be comfortable working with modern BI platforms and have experience supporting customer-facing embedded analytics in a multi-tenant environment.

Omni Analytics experience is preferred but not mandatory. However, strong hands-on experience with Looker, Tableau, Business Objects, or Power BI is mandatory, along with the ability and willingness to quickly learn Omni.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer and maintain the Omni Analytics BI platform across development, staging, and production environments.
  • Manage users, groups, roles, permissions, licenses, data access, and row-level security.
  • Support SSO/SAML, API keys, embed tokens, audit logging, and platform integrations.
  • Develop and maintain semantic data models, topics, views, relationships, joins, and derived metrics.
  • Work with Databricks teams to optimize BI workloads using Unity Catalog, SQL Warehouses, Delta Lake, Photon, caching, partitioning, and clustering.
  • Develop and maintain embedded dashboards and reports within customer-facing applications.
  • Implement multi-tenant security, dynamic filtering, white-labeling, and embedded authentication.
  • Monitor platform performance, query execution, warehouse utilization, uptime, and dashboard load times.
  • Identify and resolve slow queries, inefficient joins, and data-model performance issues.
  • Establish performance benchmarks and support load testing and capacity planning.
  • Participate in incident response, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis.
  • Implement CI/CD and Git-based workflows for BI models and content.
  • Collaborate with data engineering, product, application engineering, and business teams.
  • Create documentation, platform standards, onboarding guides, and operational runbooks.

Required Qualifications:

  • 6+ years of experience working with modern BI/analytics platforms.
  • Strong hands-on experience with at least one of the following:
    • Looker
    • Tableau
    • Business Objects
    • Power BI
  • Strong understanding of semantic-layer modeling, including joins, derived fields, access controls, reusable models, and metrics.
  • Strong knowledge of conceptual, logical, physical, relational, dimensional, and ER data modeling.
  • Advanced SQL skills, including query optimization for large and high-cardinality datasets.
  • Strong understanding of Databricks, including Unity Catalog, SQL Warehouses, Delta Lake, and Medallion Architecture.
  • Experience with embedded BI/analytics in customer-facing applications.
  • Experience with SSO, embed tokens, multi-tenant row-level security, and white-labeling.
  • Experience supporting BI platforms in production/SaaS environments, preferably across multiple regions.
  • Experience with monitoring, alerting, performance tuning, and incident management.
  • Experience with Git-based development and CI/CD workflows for BI content.
  • Experience with Azure and Azure DevOps (ADO).
  • Strong communication and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently, learn new technologies quickly, and proactively identify improvements.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Direct hands-on experience with Omni Analytics, including topics, workbooks, embedding SDK, and administration.
  • Experience with Databricks Photon, Delta Share, and Medallion Architecture.
  • Experience in fintech, treasury, or other highly regulated/security-sensitive environments.
  • Experience with BI load testing and capacity planning.
  • Python experience with pandas, SQLAlchemy, or PySpark.
  • Experience integrating AI/ML or LLM capabilities into BI platforms.
  • Experience developing dashboards, KPI frameworks, and self-service analytics solutions.

What the Client Is Looking For-

The client is looking for someone who is not just a dashboard developer, but someone who can take ownership of the BI platform itself—including administration, semantic modeling, Databricks integration, embedded analytics, security, performance, monitoring, and production support.

Important: Omni Analytics is a relatively less-common BI platform. Candidates who have not used Omni can still be considered if they have deep experience with Looker, Tableau, Business Objects, or Power BI and demonstrate strong self-learning and problem-solving skills.
