This position focuses on system-level testing of complex hardware and software solutions supporting highly available communications environments. The engineer will participate in informal testing, customer acceptance testing, and integration activities while working closely with engineering teams and end users.
The role is hybrid but requires candidates to spend significant time onsite during Formal Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) activities with customers.

Position Summary
We are seeking a highly technical System Test Engineer to support the integration, testing, troubleshooting, and customer acceptance of proprietary safety-critical voice communication systems.
This individual will work across software, networking, and hardware environments to identify and resolve technical issues, support last-mile system integration, and ensure solutions are ready for formal customer acceptance testing. The ideal candidate combines strong hands-on troubleshooting skills with the communication ability and technical credibility to work directly with knowledgeable FAA and contractor engineering teams.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop and execute formal system-level test procedures and verification activities.
* Create comprehensive test plans, verification procedures, test documentation, and requirements traceability.
* Troubleshoot and debug proprietary safety-critical voice communication systems across software, networking, and hardware environments.
* Support last-mile integration of voice communication products within customer environments.
* Perform functional, integration, performance, security, and system-level testing.
* Support and participate in Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and formal customer acceptance testing.
* Interface directly with FAA and contractor engineers during testing, system demonstrations, troubleshooting, and acceptance activities.
* Investigate, reproduce, document, and communicate software, network, and hardware defects to engineering teams.
* Review system requirements and ensure appropriate test coverage.
* Manage laboratory test environments, equipment, configurations, and test scripts.
* Collaborate with software, systems, network, and hardware engineering teams to troubleshoot complex system issues.
* Maintain detailed test records and clearly communicate test results, technical issues, and resolutions to engineering leadership and customers.
Required Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree, at minimum, in Engineering, Computer Science, Technology, or a related technical discipline.
* 5+ years of system-level hardware/software testing, systems integration, or closely related engineering experience.
* Strong ability to troubleshoot and debug complex software and networking issues, with additional exposure to hardware troubleshooting.
* Experience working with mission-critical communications, voice systems, networking, telecommunications, or similar complex technology environments.
* Strong experience developing and executing formal system test procedures and documentation.
* Experience supporting Factory Acceptance Testing, customer acceptance testing, or other formal customer-facing technical evaluations.
* Strong networking and systems troubleshooting skills.
* Ability to communicate confidently and technically with experienced customer engineers.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

* Experience comprehensively testing the security and performance of proprietary, hardened voice communication systems.
* Air Traffic Management or FAA program experience.
* Safety-critical or mission-critical voice communication systems.
* VoIP and telecommunications technologies.

* DO-278A.
* MIL-STD-461.
* TDM, ISDN, POTS, and T1 technologies.
