About the Role
We are partnering with a leading national insurance and financial services organization to expand their cloud engineering team. This company is investing heavily in cloud modernization and enterprise-wide automation, and they are seeking a Cloud Engineer with strong full-stack engineering skills to help enhance, build, and scale cloud infrastructure services.
In this role, you will contribute to the modernization of cloud account provisioning, develop new microservices that support Infrastructure as Code (IaC) pipelines, and improve automation for public cloud environments. You will collaborate closely with engineering teams to ensure scalable, secure, and efficient cloud ecosystems that support agile software development and adhere to enterprise standards.
Job Description
We’re looking for a Cloud Automation Engineer who can actually build things, not just click around in a console.
In this role, you’ll help modernize cloud account provisioning and management, automate Infrastructure as Code (IaC) workflows, and build services that make it easier and safer for engineering teams to use AWS at scale. You’ll work across AWS, Terraform, Python/Go, and modern CI/CD tooling to automate the boring stuff and make our cloud platform more reliable, secure, and fast.
If you enjoy writing code, automating manual processes, and working in a real hybrid (not “remote but actually onsite”) environment, this is for you.
What You’ll Do
- Build and maintain cloud automation to provision and manage standard and shared AWS accounts, services, guardrails, and configurations.
- Write Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform/Terraform Enterprise (TFE) within approved pipelines, following best practices and standards.
- Develop services and tools in Python and/or Go to support cloud provisioning, account lifecycle management, and infrastructure workflows.
- Design and improve CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions) to automate deployments and reduce manual effort.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize cloud infrastructure for performance, reliability, and cost.
- Implement and tune monitoring and alerting for cloud resources and services.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to integrate cloud automation into their delivery pipelines and ensure alignment with security and governance standards.
- Participate in on-call rotations for critical cloud platform services (on an as-needed basis).
What We’re Looking For (Must-Haves)
We’re not looking for a “cloud hobbyist.” You should be comfortable owning real workloads in production.
- 3+ years of experience in cloud, platform, or software engineering.
- Hands-on AWS experience: building, configuring, and supporting services (not just a course or lab work).
- Strong coding skills in Python and/or Go used for automation, tooling, or services (not just scripts you wrote once).
- Practical Terraform experience (Terraform or TFE) building and maintaining reusable modules and IaC pipelines.
- Experience with CI/CD and DevOps tooling such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitHub, Docker, etc.
- Understanding of APIs and microservices, and how infrastructure supports them.
- Familiarity with cloud networking, compute, storage, and basic security concepts.
Nice to Have (Not Required, But a Plus)
- AWS certifications (Developer Associate, SysOps, Solutions Architect, or DevOps Engineer).
- Experience with serverless (e.g., Lambda) and container platforms (ECS, EKS, Kubernetes, Docker).
- Experience with AWS CloudFormation or CDK alongside Terraform.
- Experience in large enterprise or regulated environments (insurance, financial services, etc.).
- Exposure to platform engineering or internal developer platforms.
