We are looking for an experienced Control-M Developer & Administrator to support enterprise batch scheduling and mainframe operations for a government environment in Des Moines, Iowa. This Long-term Contract position focuses on maintaining dependable job processing, improving workflow efficiency, and providing technical support across critical z/OS-based systems. The role combines scheduler administration, production support, and mainframe development work to help keep core applications and batch services running smoothly.
Responsibilities:
Build and maintain Control-M batch workflows to support reliable processing across mainframe applications.
Configure scheduling logic, including dependencies, calendars, and run windows, to align with operational requirements.
Oversee daily batch activity, verify successful completion of jobs, and respond quickly to exceptions or delays.
Investigate job failures, perform recovery and restart activities, and address root causes to reduce repeat incidents.
Provide technical support for mainframe applications running in a z/OS environment, including maintenance and enhancement work.
Review existing programs and job streams to understand processing logic and create clear technical documentation.
Assist with production operations for batch schedules, including support for 24x7 processing cycles when needed.
Coordinate issue resolution, escalate complex problems appropriately, and contribute to system changes, releases, and deployments.
Hands-on experience administering and supporting Control-M in an enterprise mainframe environment.
Strong background working with IBM z/OS and mainframe application support.
Proficiency in COBOL and JCL for batch processing and legacy system maintenance.
Experience with CICS and DB2, including support for DB2-based mainframe applications.
Ability to troubleshoot scheduling failures, restore processing, and perform root cause analysis.
Familiarity with production support practices for high-availability batch operations.
Strong analytical and documentation skills for reviewing existing code and business logic.
