IT ENTRPRSE ARCHITECT CONSULTANT

Our client, a leading global investment bank, is seeking an Enterprise Architecture Consultant to join its New York City office.
This role sits at the intersection of business and technology, driving architecture strategy and governance across capital markets platforms.
This is a high-impact, front-office aligned role supporting trading, risk, and regulatory systems, with close interaction across U.S. and global teams.
Key Responsibilities
Architecture Strategy & Execution
- Define target-state architecture and multi-year transformation roadmaps
- Translate business priorities (trading, risk, regulatory) into technology solutions
- Partner with delivery teams to ensure architecture is actionable and implemented
Architecture Governance (Core Focus)
- Lead and support Architecture Review Board (ARB) processes in the U.S. region
- Enforce architecture standards, design principles, and approval workflows
- Track cross-program risks, dependencies, and remediation plans
Capital Markets & Integration
- Design and oversee integration across trading, risk, and reporting platforms
- Define API, service, and event-driven architecture patterns
- Drive consistency across legacy platforms and modern cloud-based systems
Technology Leadership
- Establish reference architectures and engineering standards
- Evaluate and guide adoption of cloud, microservices, and data platforms
- Contribute to modernization initiatives across front- and middle-office systems
Stakeholder Engagement
- Present architecture strategy to senior technology and business stakeholders
- Translate complex technical topics into business-aligned outcomes
- Collaborate across global teams, including close alignment with overseas HQ
Required Skills & Experience
- 10-15 years of experience in IT, with strong architecture background
- Proven experience in enterprise or solution architecture within financial services
- Strong understanding of:
- Application architecture and system design
- Integration patterns (APIs, messaging, event-driven systems)
- Cloud and hybrid infrastructure environments
- Experience with architecture governance, review boards, and design authority processes
- Ability to drive architecture decisions in a fast-paced delivery environment
Capital Markets Experience (Required)
- Hands-on experience with:
- Trading systems (equities, fixed income, derivatives)
- Risk and regulatory reporting platforms
- Familiarity with high-availability, low-latency systems is a plus
Soft Skills
- Strong communication skills with the ability to influence senior stakeholders
- Experience working in globally distributed teams
- Ability to balance structure (governance) with delivery speed
- Comfortable navigating a matrixed, cross-cultural organization
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in a global bank or global financial institutions
- Familiarity with enterprise architecture frameworks such as TOGAF
- Exposure to regulatory-driven change initiatives
