The Air Force Civilian Service (AFCS) is looking for full time IT Cybersecurity Specialist (CUSTSPT/SYSADMIN), GG-2210-13 to work in the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center (AFLCMC) at JB San Antonio - Lackland, Texas.
Base Salary Range: $132,751 to $181,428

The primary purpose of the position is: To serve as a professional information technology (IT) specialist providing a wide range of IT services tailored to support architecture development, software development, and Risk Management Framework (RMF) activities for cyberspace systems. Provides advanced knowledge and skill in the development, use and sustainment of IT systems and is considered an advanced IT user.
Depending on the type of position (competitive/excepted) you are selected for; you will be required to serve a 1-year probationary period OR 2-year trial period. Upon completion of your probationary/trial period, your employment will be terminated unless you receive certification, in writing, that your continued employment advances the public interest.
(NOTE: Typically, the 1-year probationary period is for Competitive Jobs, and 2-year trail period is for Excepted Jobs.)

Qualifications/Requirements:

Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret, Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) Security Clearance. A non-disclosure agreement must be signed.
Must be able to obtain and maintain the required level of Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA) certification within 9 months of assigned duties.
Must obtain and maintain the required Information Assurance Certification within six months of assignment of these duties.
Bachelor degree highly desired
SEC+, CISSP certifications highly desired
Knowledge of IT systems analysis and applications software concepts, functions, techniques, and capabilities sufficient to evaluate new and emerging IT security methods and principles, the feasibility of proposed new systems and applications software projects; and to design, write, test, debug, and maintain information systems and applications software and ensure successful integration with existing and anticipated infrastructure in the cyber weapon system environment.
Knowledge of operational activities (such as special operations, personnel recovery, airlift, etc...), weapon systems, command, control, and mission process, systems, and applications. br>
Knowledge of IT management information systems and applications software technology to isolate causes of problems between hardware, system, and applications software programs and to measure system performance evaluate risk, and/or extend weapon system capabilities to support organizational business processes and operations.
Knowledge of IT management information systems requirements and application software development techniques required in carrying out project assignments of considerable difficulty and with little specificity regarding approach to be followed.
Ability to maintain an up-to-date awareness of technological advances and predict how management can meet future requirements.

Advanced technical knowledge as an Information System Security Manager roles and responsibilities.
Extensive and in-depth experience implementing, managing, and maintaining Risk Management Framework (RMF) controls across information systems, achieving and maintaining Authority to Operate (ATO) in accordance with Department of Defense (DoD), Air Force (AF), and National Security Agency (NSA) requirements.
Ability to effectively utilize Xacta.io for comprehensive information system security package maintenance, including uploading and managing security scans (e.g., SCAP/STIG) on a recurring (e.g., weekly) basis, and proactively managing Plan of Action & Milestones (POA&Ms).
Advanced technical knowledge in vulnerability management lifecycle processes, including the application of TASKORDs, proficiency in using vulnerability remediation tools (e.g., ACAS), expertise in overseeing patching and Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) implementation, and advanced skills in analyzing vulnerability reports to drive mitigation efforts.
Ability to interpret and implement complex security policies (including Air Force Instructions and other relevant guidance) and ensure compliance with relevant standards and regulations, including familiarity with Joint Command and Control (JCC2) plans and associated policy lifecycles.
Advanced technical knowledge and practical understanding of cybersecurity principles and technologies, including Cybersecurity Service Provider (CSSP) concepts, boundary defense mechanisms, endpoint monitoring solutions, cloud security platforms (e.g., AWS Security Hub), and familiarity with tools like Tanium, CSTAR, and ARAD.
Experience in establishing and maintaining effective continuous monitoring programs, proactively conducting thorough log reviews, meticulously managing access controls, and diligently performing comprehensive security audits to ensure system integrity and security posture.
Experience in overseeing multiple development, testing, and production environments (e.g., AWS Gov Cloud Dev, NIPRNet, SIPRNet, JWICS) and meticulously managing security-relevant changes, including conducting thorough security impact analyses, processing connection requests, and managing Interconnection Service Agreements (ISAs).
Knowledge of software assurance practices, including the effective management of software approval requests and familiarity with Capture the Flag (CTF) exercises to enhance software security awareness and skills.
Practical experience in implementing and executing incident response procedures and processes, including incident identification, containment, eradication, and recovery.
Ability to create clear and concise briefings, accurately document system topologies, and effectively manage documentation using collaborative tools like JIRA and Confluence.
Ability to effectively manage assigned tasks, accurately track progress, update project performance systems (e.g., PPS), and actively participate in Engineering Review Board (ERB) and Change Advisory Board (CAB) meetings.
Advanced technical experience in processing Domain Name System (DNS) requests and ensuring the integrity and availability of DNS services.
