Job Description
The Senior Communications Engineer will provide design and project management for various systems within the enterprise communications infrastructure. This includes designing and implementing systems that integrate with wireless, voice, SCADA, badge access, satellite, microwave, CCTV, and data networks. The role also involves managing contract personnel deployed on projects, overseeing communications projects, and interfacing with third-party vendors and contractors. This individual is responsible for the ultimate quality control of deployed systems.
Responsibilities include:
- Design communications solutions integrating the above-mentioned technologies.
- Interface with stakeholders to gather details for communications designs.
- Project management of communications design deployments.
- Interface with external contractors during deployments and system problem resolutions.
- Maintain budgets for communications projects.
- Provide advanced technical support for field communications technicians.
- Research new technologies for potential communications solutions.
- Provide technical input on communications contracts and agreements.
- Manage FCC and FAA administration for communications assets.
- Generate technology standards documents.
- Provide technical support for internal field technicians on troubleshooting.
- Travel up to 50% of the time.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Telecommunications Engineering required.
- PMP certification preferred.
- FCC license and network certification (CCNA) a plus.
- 7 years of experience in 3 or more of these technologies: wireless, voice, SCADA, badge access, satellite, microwave, CCTV, and data networks.
- Experience designing and integrating communications systems and managing those projects.
- Proficiency in Visio or CAD for system diagrams.
- Experience with communications path profile software preferred; familiarity with the FCC ULS website is a plus.
- Strong communication skills with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to manage multiple projects while handling support requests from various sources.
- Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.
- Ability to lift moderate weight, and kneel, bend, and twist during installations or testing.
- Offshore travel may be required depending on the project.
