Genesis10 is currently seeking a Cloud Engineer for a 12-month contract role with our healthcare client in Eagan, MN. This role will be hybrid, working 2 days onsite. Compensation: $75.00 - 81.00 per hour, W2, depending on skill and experience level. Role Summary We are seeking an experienced Cloud Engineer to design, build, and support secure, scalable cloud infrastructure in AWS for a highly regulated environment. This role will partner closely with security, architecture, and application teams to ensure cloud solutions meet strict compliance, risk, and governance requirements while enabling modern DevOps and Infrastructure-as-Code practices.
The ideal candidate has deep hands-on experience with AWS services, Terraform, and cloud security controls, and understands how to operate within regulatory frameworks, such as, HIPAA.
Key Responsibilities Cloud Infrastructure & Engineering - Design, implement, and maintain AWS cloud infrastructure using Terraform (IaC).
- Build reusable Terraform modules and enforce infrastructure standards across environments.
- Support multi-account AWS architectures using AWS Organizations and landing zones.
- Optimize cloud environments for scalability and performance .
Security & Compliance - Implement and maintain security controls aligned with regulatory and compliance standards.
- Enforce least-privilege IAM, secure network design (VPCs, security groups, NACLs), and encryption standards.
- Partner with security teams on risk assessments, audits, and remediation activities.
- Support evidence collection and documentation for internal and external audits.
DevOps & Automation - Integrate Terraform with CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, etc.).
- Automate environment provisioning, configuration management, and policy enforcement.
- Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting using tools such as CloudWatch, CloudTrail, and security monitoring platforms.
Collaboration & Governance - Work closely with application teams, architects, security, and compliance stakeholders.
- Contribute to cloud standards, patterns, and guardrails.
- Participate in incident response and root cause analysis related to cloud infrastructure.
Required Qualifications - 3+ years of experience in cloud or infrastructure engineering.
- Strong hands-on experience with AWS, including services such as:
- EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, EKS/ECS
- VPC (speak the language), IAM, Suma Logic, CloudTrail (Understanding of this)
- Proven experience using Terraform in production environments.
- Solid understanding of cloud security best practices:
- IAM, encryption (KMS), network segmentation, secrets management
- Experience working in highly regulated environments (financial services, healthcare, insurance, energy, or government).
- Familiarity with compliance frameworks such as, HIPAA.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications - AWS certifications (Solutions Architect, Security Specialty, or DevOps Engineer).
- Experience with policy-as-code (OPA, Sentinel, AWS Config, SCPs).
- Experience with container platforms (EKS, Docker, Kubernetes).
- Knowledge of zero-trust architectures and secure landing zone design.
- Experience supporting audit readiness and regulatory reviews.
- If resource has any exposure to working in a Facets environment would be excellent.
Soft Skills & Attributes - Comfortable operating in high-governance environments.
- Strong documentation and communication skills.
- Ability to balance security, compliance, and delivery velocity.
- Collaborative mindset with a bias toward automation and standardization.
