Summary

The Linkers and Loaders Team is looking for an engineer to collaboratively design and implement new performance optimizations, security mitigations, and enhance the developer experience through diagnostics and other tools. Drawing from your own experience writing code and working with developer tools, you will bring diverse perspectives and a desire to help solve the problems you have encountered in your own development work.

Description

This position requires a highly creative and self-motivated individual, capable of communicating with and giving feedback to others in a range of roles across software engineering at Apple.

You will have the opportunity to affect design decisions not only on the tools and binary format, but also have a substantial impact on the internal developer workflow, and the performance and security of the overall operating system.

Minimum Qualifications

As a Linker engineer, you will:

Collaborate with teammates through in-person conversations, pull requests, and other online discussions.

Collaborate with engineers across Apple on cross-functional projects, and help and assist in difficult to diagnose issues.

Design and implement new performance optimizations, security mitigations, and tooling improvements.

Drive the testing, integration, and adoption of your changes into the development ecosystem and the operating systems.

Engage in hardware/software co-design and influence future Apple Silicon hardware.

Preferred Qualifications

Demonstrated ability to communicate through technical writing.

Curiosity for understanding how code and processes work "under the hood".

Experience with software design and programming in (but not limited to) C++ or Swift.

Familiarity with algorithms and data structures.

Ability and motivation to investigate and learn what you don't know.

Receptiveness to constructive feedback and mentorship.
