Location: Downtown Columbus (Hybrid schedule - onsite several times per week) About the RoleWe are seeking an experienced SQL Server Database Administrator (DBA) to join our IT organization. This role is critical in driving high-caliber database design, solution delivery, and support in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. The ideal candidate will be a technical leader with deep database expertise and a collaborative style that fosters innovation and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities- Manage and support Microsoft SQL Server environments, including VM-based servers.
- Monitor, analyze, and optimize database performance across multi-datacenter environments.
- Plan, install, configure, and upgrade SQL Server releases and environments.
- Collaborate with network, IIS, and storage teams for SQL-based configurations.
- Provide technical assistance to developers on SQL design and programming.
- Implement and maintain clustering, replication, log shipping, and standby servers.
- Ensure database security, compliance, and risk management controls.
- Support DevOps tools (Ansible, Jenkins, Bitbucket, Nginx, etc.).
- Lead incident resolution efforts and provide Tier III technical support.
- Develop technical documentation, project plans, and capacity/resource expansion strategies.
- Mentor junior staff and provide leadership in database innovation and automation.
6 years REQUIRED
Support DevOps tools (Ansible, Jenkins, Nexis, Mavin, Bitbucket, Kony Mobile, Nginx etc.)
Configures SQL services (e.g. security, JDBC, clusters). Plans, installs, and coordinates SQL Server releases, migrations, upgrades, and maintenance
Experience managing SQL Databases (on prem and cloud) independently
Experience providing DBA support for distributed servers in a multi-datacenter environment.
Exp working with other database administrators across different agencies that manage several database platforms, including Azure Cloud and Oracle
