Location: Beaverton, Oregon (Hybrid. Onsite Monday-Thursdays, and can work remotely from home on Fridays)
Role Overview
This role is focused on contributing to the development of innovative and visually appealing materials for footwear projects. The position involves blending artistic skills with technical knowledge to design materials that enhance the overall aesthetic and functionality of products. The successful candidate will collaborate with project teams to understand design requirements and functional specifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Research and select materials based on their properties, durability, and aesthetic qualities.
- Utilize design software and tools to create and refine material concepts.
- Develop prototypes and samples to test and validate the visual and tactile aspects of materials.
- Work with color scientists and texture specialists to ensure accurate color matching and texture replication.
- Collaborate with product designers and engineers to integrate materials into the overall design, considering form, function, and manufacturing processes.
- Integrate environmentally responsible options into design considerations and recommend sustainable alternatives.
- Conduct tests to assess the performance, durability, and safety of materials and implement quality control measures.
- Maintain detailed records of material specifications, design processes, and testing results for internal reference and compliance.
- Work with material suppliers and manufacturers to evaluate samples and ensure materials meet quality and design standards.
- Stay informed about design trends and emerging materials to provide insights on innovative design approaches.

Compensation & Benefits
The pay rate for this position is between $31.00 and $42.66 per hour. This information is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to geographic location, experience, and job-related skills.
