Summary

The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for producing quality mechanical designs, integrating Partners' peripheral equipment, and testing and troubleshooting of components and systems for Okuma's manufacturing solutions.

Responsibilities:
  • Processing Requests for Engineering Quotations (RFEQs)
  • Direct technical support for sales, service, operations, partners and distributors as required
  • Continuous improvements of designs and processes
  • Design documentation (functional specifications, 2D/3D CAD, assembly/installation instructions, BOM's, etc.)
  • Processing of Engineering Changes (ECOs)
  • Investigation and root cause analysis for Customer Complaints (NOP)
  • Standardization of design / common components
  • Creating and maintaining project schedules
  • Create, concept and detail mechanical designs
  • US Sourcing of components and systems
  • Cost control / cost reduction / meeting cost objectives
  • Component evaluation and specification
  • Electromechanical systems troubleshooting

  • BS Mechanical Engineering or 8-10 years of machine tool installation, maintenance and/or repair.
  • 3-7 years of mechanical design experience (prior machine tool design experience preferred)
  • Prior experience with CNC machine tools desired (experience with Okuma machines preferred)
  • Prior design experience using solid modeling software (CAD)
  • Skilled at progressing from problem statement to well-documented and tested designs
  • Understanding and applications of national and international standards such as ISO, OSHA, ANSI standards
  • Strong written and verbal technical communication skills
  • 10% travel required to work with Customers, Distributors, and Partners
