Role: Security Engineer
Location: Fully Remote – U.S.
Pay Rate: $70/hr
Duration: 12-month contract, possible extension/conversion
Schedule: 8 AM–5 PM EST, Monday–Friday
Hours: 40/week | No OT | No weekends
Role Overview
Client is looking for a hands-on, well-rounded Senior Security Engineer to support the technical execution of post-acquisition security integrations.
The engineer will take pre-built Day 1–90 integration plans and execute the security controls needed to bring newly acquired organizations and environments up to client's established security standards.
Between acquisitions, the engineer will support the team's ongoing security engineering activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute Day 1–90 security integration plans for newly acquired organizations.
- Implement, configure, troubleshoot, and remediate security controls within acquired environments.
- Bring acquired environments into alignment with established client's security standards.
- Support Endpoint Security / EDR, including security controls and remediation.
- Support Vulnerability Management, including identifying and addressing security gaps.
- Support Network Security controls and engineering activities.
- Support SIEM / Security Logging and security monitoring capabilities.
- Work across multiple security technology platforms rather than specializing in a single tool.
- Collaborate with security, infrastructure, network, cloud, and other technical teams.
- Contribute to regular security engineering activities between acquisitions.
What the Manager Is Looking For
- 5–8 years of cybersecurity/security engineering experience preferred.
- Strong hands-on enterprise security engineering experience.
- Broad technical exposure across endpoint, vulnerability management, network security, and SIEM/logging.
- Experience implementing and operating security controls, not just documenting or assessing them.
- Experience working in a mature, similarly scaled enterprise environment.
- Ability to take an established technical plan and execute it from implementation through remediation.
- Post-acquisition implementation/integration experience is a plus, but prior M&A due diligence is not required.
- Candidates should have a generalist security engineering background, rather than being highly specialized in one security domain or tool.
Key Hiring Manager Focus
Hands-on execution > strategy.
The manager is looking for someone who can take an existing security integration plan, implement the required controls, troubleshoot issues, and bring the environment up to standard.
Candidates who are primarily CISO/executive, GRC/compliance, security strategy, or program-management focused may be too senior or too removed from the hands-on engineering work.
