RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce has a client in Maryland Heights, MO that is seeking a highly skilled Business Systems Analyst (BSA) with strong technical aptitude and a product-oriented mindset to support the evolution of business-critical applications and platforms. This role requires someone who can operate beyond traditional business analysis, working directly at the application and functionality level to elicit, challenge, refine, and document requirements. The ideal candidate will be equally comfortable collaborating with business stakeholders, technical teams, and senior leadership while diving into the technical details of how systems, workflows, and integrations function.
Responsibilities:
* Partner with business, technical, and product stakeholders to gather, analyze, clarify, and refine business and system requirements
* Actively elicit requirements through discovery sessions, stakeholder interviews, and process analysis rather than simply documenting pre-defined requirements
* Translate operational and business process needs into detailed functional requirements, user stories, process flows, and technical documentation
* Analyze existing processes and identify opportunities for workflow optimization, automation, and system enhancements
* Collaborate closely with business leadership and operational teams to understand challenges, pain points, and evolving technology needs
* Facilitate discussions between technical and non-technical stakeholders to ensure alignment on requirements and expected outcomes
* Create and maintain requirements documentation, process flow diagrams, user stories, acceptance criteria, and other project artifacts
* Utilize AI-assisted tools and technologies to accelerate documentation, requirements creation, and process analysis while applying critical thinking and validation to generated outputs
REQUIREMENTS:
* 5+ years of experience as a Business Analyst, Business Systems Analyst, Technical Business Analyst, Product Analyst, Application Analyst, or similar role
* Strong experience gathering, eliciting, analyzing, and refining business and system requirements
* Demonstrated ability to work at the application or system level rather than solely on high-level business processes
* Experience creating functional specifications, user stories, process flows, workflow diagrams, and requirements documentation
* Strong understanding of software development lifecycles, application functionality, and technology platforms
* Proven ability to ask probing questions, challenge assumptions, and clarify ambiguous requirements
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with both technical teams and executive leadership
* Experience working in Agile environments
* Hands-on experience with Jira and Microsoft Excel
* Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
* Ability to confidently lead stakeholder discussions and present complex information in clear, understandable terms
* Experience collaborating across multiple business functions and technical teams
Nice to Have / Preferred Skills:
* Experience supporting product-focused teams or product-driven initiatives
* Background in QA, software development, application support, systems analysis, or other technical roles prior to transitioning into business analysis
* Experience supporting construction, maintenance, field operations, infrastructure, telecommunications, utility, engineering, or operational business environments
* Familiarity with AI-assisted documentation tools, prompt engineering, and generative AI technologies
* Experience using AI tools to create requirements, workflows, process documentation, and business artifacts
* Experience creating end-to-end process maps and workflow automation recommendations
