Summary

Plant Modeling and Co-Simulation Engineer
Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced engineer specializing in virtualization of complete vehicle propulsion systems (ICE/EV/HEV). The role involves developing and validating digital twins to represent real-world mission profiles, driving conditions, and lifecycle usage. The focus is on system-level modeling, simulation, and optimization to support design decisions and maximize vehicle range, energy efficiency, and performance.
Key Responsibilities
Propulsion System Virtualization & Digital Twin Development
  • Develop virtualization models of complete propulsion systems using real-world specifications and mission profiles.
  • Build and validate multiphysics digital twins covering propulsion, powertrain, dynamics, road loads, driving behaviors, traffic, and environmental influences.
  • Execute full system virtualization and virtual testing to freeze designs before release.
Multiphysics Modeling & Simulation
  • Create advanced mathematical models for propulsion systems to study performance and durability.
  • Identify key influencing variables and optimize them to meet design targets.
  • Conduct 1D simulations of hybrid/electric powertrains and vehicle dynamics across drive cycles to estimate range, efficiency, and SOC.
ICE/EV/HEV System Behavior & Component-Level Modeling
  • Define physics, behaviors, and control interactions of EV systems under diverse conditions.
  • Determine motor torque, RPM, gearbox ratios, and vehicle parameters for given drive cycles.
  • Develop detailed 1D models of EV components (batteries, motors, inverters, DC-DC converters, BMS, controllers) using MATLAB/Simulink, Stateflow, Simscape, GT-SUITE.
Model Optimization & System Integration
  • Improve simulation models and optimize EV subsystem specifications under varying scenarios.
  • Collaborate with aerodynamic, thermal, and powertrain teams to integrate efficiency-enhancing technologies (lightweight materials, aero improvements, regenerative braking, power management).
Validation, Correlation & Testing
  • Perform simulations for aerodynamics, rolling resistance, and powertrain efficiency.
  • Correlate simulation outputs with on-road and lab data to improve accuracy.
  • Conduct range and performance tests across temperatures, terrains, and load cases.
  • Carry out MIL/SIL testing to validate and refine 1D models.
  • Work with testing teams to tune simulation parameters against measured data (speed, SOC, power).
Documentation & Reporting
  • Document methodologies, findings, validation results, and recommendations.
  • Provide actionable insights to improve range, efficiency, and component selection for future programs.
