Data Architect (Enterprise Data & Cloud Modernization)

Role Overview

We are seeking a senior Data Architect who can operate at both the executive and technical levels to help a large enterprise assess its current data capabilities and design the path to a modern, cloud-forward data architecture.

This role is not just about designing data models — it’s about partnering with SVP-level stakeholders, understanding where the organization is today, identifying where it needs to be, and architecting the strategy, standards, and patterns to get there.

You will play a key role in modernizing a legacy Teradata environment into a scalable, cost-optimized Google Cloud data ecosystem while establishing strong data domain design, integration patterns, and governance boundaries.

This is a highly visible role that requires both architectural depth and the ability to communicate complex data strategy in business terms.

What You’ll Do

·       Lead executive-level conversations to assess current enterprise data capabilities and define future-state architecture

·       Evaluate existing Teradata data warehouse environments and design migration / modernization approaches into Google Cloud

·       Design and define enterprise data domain architecture and data modeling standards

·       Establish scalable data integration patterns across systems and domains

·       Architect solutions using BigQuery, ensuring performance optimization and cost control through partitioning, clustering, and query design

·       Define best practices for cloud storage, data lifecycle management, and data access patterns

·       Design event-driven data pipelines using Pub/Sub

·       Architect large-scale data processing solutions using Dataflow and Dataproc (Spark)

·       Establish IAM, security boundaries, and data governance practices within Google Cloud Platform

·       Serve as the bridge between executive vision and hands-on engineering execution

What You Bring

·       Proven experience as a Data Architect in large enterprise environments

·       Strong background in Teradata and modern cloud data platforms, specifically Google BigQuery

·       Deep expertise in data modeling, data domain design, and enterprise data architecture

·       Experience designing data integration patterns across complex ecosystems

·       Advanced SQL skills with experience optimizing BigQuery performance and cost

Hands-on experience with:

·       Google Cloud Storage

·       Pub/Sub eventing architecture

·       Dataflow and/or Dataproc (Spark)

·       Strong understanding of IAM, security boundaries, and governance in cloud environments

·       Ability to translate technical architecture into executive-level strategy conversations

·       Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills

Ideal Candidate Profile

You are as comfortable in a boardroom with SVPs discussing data strategy as you are whiteboarding data domain designs and integration patterns with engineering teams. You understand both legacy data warehouse environments and modern cloud data architectures, and you know how to guide organizations from one to the other.
