Job SummaryAs a cornerstone of CME Group's Cloud transformation, the Data Reliability Engineer (dRE) II is aligned directly to our data product pods. Your mission is to ensure that our data infrastructure remains reliable, scalable, and efficient as our Google Cloud Platform footprint expands at a rapid pace. What You'll Do- Automate Google Cloud Platform Operations: Drive efficiency by automating data tasks across the Google Cloud Platform.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with data domain owners, data scientists, and partners to ensure effective data consumption on Google Cloud Platform.
- Infrastructure Architecture: Design, build, secure, and maintain pipelines, databases, warehouses, and processing platforms on Google Cloud Platform.
- Quality Assurance: Measure and monitor the quality of data across all Google Cloud Platform data platforms.
- Proactive Monitoring: Implement robust monitoring and alerting systems to identify and resolve issues before they escalate.
- Incident Management: Respond promptly to incidents to minimize downtime and prevent data loss.
- Scalable Tooling: Develop automation scripts and tools to streamline operations for growing data volumes and traffic.
- System Optimization: Refine data systems to ensure efficient processing, reduced latency, and peak performance.
- Capacity Planning: Collaborate with infrastructure teams to forecast data growth and plan for future requirements.
- Security & Compliance: Ensure total data security and adherence to data protection regulations.
- Access Control: Implement industry best practices for data access controls and encryption.
- Cross-Functional Support: Partner with data and software engineers to troubleshoot issues and support data-driven initiatives.
- Continuous Improvement: Assess and evolve infrastructure and processes to enhance reliability and performance.
- Technical Documentation: Maintain precise and up-to-date documentation for systems, configurations, and SOPs.
What You'll Bring- Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, or equivalent practical experience.
- Professional Experience: Proven background as an SRE or similar role focused on data infrastructure management.
- Methodologies: Deep understanding of Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices.
- Data Technologies: Experience with relational databases, data warehousing, big data (Hadoop), streaming (Kafka), and Cloud (AWS, Google Cloud Platform, Azure).
- Programming Skills: Python (NumPy, pandas, PySpark), Java (Core Spark, functional interfaces, collections), or Scala with a focus on automation.
- Infrastructure Tools: Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus.
- Governance: Expertise in data governance, security, and compliance best practices.
- Software Development: Proficiency in Git, version control, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Cloud Computing: Strong experience in data-intensive applications, specifically within Google Cloud Platform (Google Cloud Platform).
- Quality & Monitoring: Experience in data QA/testing and tools like Cloud Logging, ELK, AppDynamics, New Relic, or Splunk.
- Advanced Tech & Certs: Knowledge of AI/ML tools is a plus; Google Associate Cloud Engineer or Data Engineer certifications are highly regarded.
- Domain Specifics : Experience in data engineering or data science.
