We are a premier global specialty biopharmaceutical leader founded in 2007, dedicated to advancing patient care through innovative therapies and drug delivery platforms. With 1,200 employees spanning 35 countries and an end-to-end operational footprint from R&D to global commercialization, we are privately held and combine biopharma innovation with exceptional organizational stability and a history of minimal turnover. We are on a strong growth trajectory delivering 10 12% year-over-year growth, projecting $500 million in revenue this fiscal year (with a strategic target to double by 2032) and industry leading profit margins.
This is a brand-new, highly visible role serving as the enterprise Subject Matter Expert (SME) on AI and the technical anchor for the company s AI roadmap. This role is a hands-on builder and business-facing leader responsible for designing, building, and deploying production-grade AI-driven workflow systems.
You will own and coordinate AI Agentic projects across the enterprise collaborating directly with VP-level stakeholders across Operations, Quality Control, Legal, Finance, and Supply Chain while mentoring a growing team of software and data engineers in building their own AI agents, LLMs, and RAG pipelines.
Responsibilities
Enterprise AI Leadership & Business Workflow Systems
- Serve as the principal enterprise Subject Matter Expert (SME) on Applied Agentic AI, establishing, designing, and scaling the enterprise AI environment from the ground up.
- Collaborate directly with VP-level business leaders and Data and Software Engineers to identify high-impact automation opportunities and build AI-enabled workflow systems across all business units.
- Design, own and coordinate the overarching AI project roadmap, taking full ownership of architectural decisions and framework selections.
- Mentor and guide existing software and data engineers on AI best practices, helping them build, optimize, and deploy their own AI agents and pipelines.
Agentic Systems, RAG & Data Orchestration
- Design, build, and deploy agentic AI solutions, incorporating multi-step reasoning, tool-calling, agent-to-agent interactions, and workflow orchestration.
- Architect and implement Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) applications using tens of thousands of unstructured and structured enterprise documents (validation records, quality files, scientific data, audits).
- If skill set allows, leverage Model Context Protocol (MCP) and Microsoft Viva connectors to structure, clean, improve, and enrich enterprise data and metadata.
Engineering, Production & Tech Stack Integration
- Transition AI solutions from prototype to reliable, governed production systems with a strong emphasis on observability, latency, cost control, and monitoring.
- Package AI capabilities into robust APIs, services, and web front-ends (React, TypeScript, Python).
- Integrate AI workflows deeply within the Microsoft ecosystem, including Azure OpenAI Service, Microsoft Fabric data platform, Dataverse, SQL Server backends, and M365/Copilot environments.
- Establish architectural standards for agentic orchestration frameworks (evaluating and standardizing tools like LangChain, LangGraph, MS AutoGen, etc.).
Requirements:
Must-Have Technical Qualifications:
- Core Engineering Background: 2+ years of foundational software engineering experience prior to entering the AI space (strong proficiency in Python is required;).
- AI Track Record: 2+ years of direct, hands-on experience designing, developing, and deploying at least 1 Applied AI Agentic System into production (e.g., lead role in launching RAG systems, AI agentic workflows, and/or multi-agent systems into production). T
- Applied AI Ecosystems: Hands-on experience with at least 1 applied AI framework and/or ecosystem (Microsoft Fabric/Azure OpenAI, MS AutoGen, LangGraph, LangChain, Claude Enterprise, Semantic Kernel, CrewAI, LlamaIndex, Haystack, PydanticAI, Mastra, Agno, DSPy, OpenAI Agents SDK, Flowise, Langflow or similar platforms).
