Principal SQL / Power BI Architect

Job Summary:

- 8+ years of experience in Business Intelligence/Data with deep expertise in Power BI internals
- Expert-level proficiency in DAX, including context transition, filter propagation, and understanding of engine behavior
- Strong skills in advanced SQL performance tuning, including execution plans, partitioning, and columnstore indexing
- Hands-on experience with tools such as Tabular Editor, ALM Toolkit, and DAX Studio
- Experience implementing incremental refresh and partition pruning
- Proficient in configuring dynamic security at scale using RLS (Row-Level Security) and OLS (Object-Level Security)
- Experience working with AWS data lake technologies (S3, Athena, Redshift) and hybrid gateway setups
- Proven ability to optimize large Power BI datasets (>500M rows / >10GB models)
- Demonstrated skill in debugging DAX queries using DAX Studio (including server timings and query plans)
- Experience tuning VertiPaq for compression, memory, and storage vs. formula engine performance
- Experience building composite models using Import, DirectQuery, and Aggregations
- Delivered enterprise-scale Power BI solutions with sub-3 second latency
- Will be required to demonstrate live DAX query debugging and SQL execution plan analysis in interviews
- Must be able to design scalable semantic models from scratch
