Job DescriptionPosition Summary
We are seeking a highly accomplished Senior Principal Oracle Engineer proficient in Oracle Middleware (Weblogic, OHS, OKE, etc) and Oracle Database to provide technical leadership and strategic direction for our enterprise Oracle middleware and database infrastructure. This senior-level position requires deep expertise in Oracle Fusion Middleware technologies, architectural design, and the ability to drive innovation while mentoring teams and influencing technology decisions across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
The Senior Principal Middleware Oracle DBA will provide strategic leadership and architectural direction for the organization's Oracle Middleware ecosystem, including WebLogic Server, Oracle SOA Suite, Oracle Identity Management, Oracle Kubernetes Engine (OKE), Oracle APEX (Application Express), Apache HTTP Server, Apache Tomcat, and related enterprise platforms. This role serves as the subject matter expert and technical authority for complex middleware and database challenges, leading the design and implementation of highly available, scalable, and secure middleware architectures that support mission-critical business applications. Responsibilities include establishing best practices, standards, and governance frameworks for middleware operations, leading performance optimization initiatives across the enterprise stack, and driving automation and modernization efforts including cloud migration strategies. The position involves mentoring and developing junior and mid-level DBAs and middleware administrators, collaborating with enterprise architects and application development teams on solution design, conducting capacity planning and infrastructure roadmap development, leading incident resolution for critical production issues, and representing the middleware team in executive-level technical discussions and vendor relationships.
Required Qualifications
Education: - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
- Master's degree preferred
Experience: - 10+ years of experience as an Oracle DBA with progressive responsibility
- 7+ years of hands-on experience with Oracle Fusion Middleware products
- 3+ yeas of hands on experience in working on OCI / Cloud based services
- 5+ years in a senior technical leadership or architecture role
- Proven track record of leading large-scale middleware implementations and migrations
- Experience managing and mentoring technical teams
Technical Skills: - Expert-level knowledge of Oracle Fusion Middleware (WebLogic, SOA Suite, OSB, OHS, IAM, OIM, OAM)
- Strong experience with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) services including Compute, Networking, Storage, Load Balancers, and Database Cloud Services
- Experience with Oracle Kubernetes Engine (OKE) and container orchestration
- Knowledge of OCI native services (Autonomous Database, Oracle Functions, API Gateway)
- Strong knowledge of Apache technologies (Apache HTTP Server, Tomcat)
- Expertise in Oracle APEX administration, workspace management, and architecture
- Deep expertise in Oracle database administration across multiple versions (11g through 23c)
- Advanced knowledge of high availability architectures (RAC, Data Guard, Active-Active)
- Mastery of performance tuning, diagnostics, and optimization techniques
- Strong expertise in disaster recovery planning and execution
- Proficiency with infrastructure as code (Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation)
- Experience with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) and hybrid cloud architectures
- Understanding of OCI security best practices, IAM policies, and network architecture
- Advanced scripting capabilities (Python, Shell, Perl)
- Strong understanding of security frameworks, compliance requirements, and governance
Preferred Qualifications
- Oracle Certified Master (OCM) or multiple OCP certifications
- Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) Architect Professional or OCI Operations Professional certification
- Experience with Oracle Exadata and Oracle Engineered Systems
- Knowledge of containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes, OKE) and microservices
