SQL Data Modeler (Chicago, NY, Toronto Based Preferred)

Job Summary:

Dexian is seeking a SQL Data Modeler (Chicago, NY, Toronto Based Preferred) for an opportunity with a client located in Chicago, IL.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain conceptual, logical, and physical data models using tools like ERwin, PowerDesigner, or


• Collaborate with business analysts and stakeholders to gather and understand data needs and translate them into technical specifications


• Use SQL for data access, manipulation, and analysis, including performance tuning and optimization of queries, stored procedures, and functions


• Establish and enforce data modeling standards, naming conventions, and best practices to ensure data consistency, accuracy, and security across all systems


• Work with database administrators (DBAs) to implement indexing, partitioning, and other strategies to enhance data retrieval and system performance


• Create and maintain comprehensive documentation, including data dictionaries and data flow diagrams, to ensure clarity and understanding for both technical and non-technical audiences


• Design data mapping specifications and collaborate with ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) developers to ensure seamless data integration and migration

Requirements:

• A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field is commonly required


• Expertise in SQL and various Database Management Systems (DBMS) like Oracle, SQL Server, or MySQL


• Experience with data modeling tools (ERwin, ER/Studio, PowerDesigner)


• Understanding of data warehousing concepts and ETL processes


• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and big data technologies (Hadoop, Spark) may also be preferred


• Recent Data Modeling


• Writing SQL


• AWS Stack (Redshift, S3)


• Python is nice to have skill


• Contract to October 31st , can extend


• 40 Hours per week


• Hybrid Toronto, Chicago, NY preferred, open to remote
