Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced SharePoint Design & Migration Consultant to lead the assessment, design, planning, and migration of content from legacy file shares, legacy environments, and network drives into modern Microsoft SharePoint Online environments. The successful candidate will act as a trusted advisor to clients, translate business and technical requirements into secure and scalable solution architectures, and provide hands-on leadership across the full solution lifecycle.

The role requires extensive SharePoint migration experience using ShareGate and other migration tools, as well as experience delivering projects in cloud environments. The architect will also support Microsoft Copilot readiness and adoption discussions and guide delivery teams on governance, security, compliance, information architecture, integration, and operational readiness.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead architecture and technical delivery for SharePoint Online, SharePoint Server (on-premises), Microsoft 365, and digital workplace transformation programmes.
  • Design SharePoint Online sites, hub sites, document libraries, metadata structures, and navigation frameworks.
  • Develop governance policies, security models, retention strategies, and permission structures.
  • Create scalable solutions aligned with Microsoft 365 best practices.
  • Engage business, security, infrastructure, application, and operations stakeholders to assess requirements and translate them into scalable, secure, supportable, and cost-effective solution architectures.
  • Define current-state and target-state architectures, solution options, technical roadmaps, migration strategies, implementation approaches, and transition plans.
  • Design SharePoint information architecture, including site structure, hub architecture, metadata, content types, taxonomy, navigation, search, permissions, records considerations, and lifecycle management.
  • Architect SharePoint on-premises farms and hybrid solutions, covering topology, capacity, availability, identity, authentication, networking, integration, patching, backup, disaster recovery, and operational support considerations.
  • Lead complex migrations from legacy SharePoint versions, file shares, and other content repositories to SharePoint Online or newer SharePoint Server environments.
  • Define migration discovery, assessment, remediation, mapping, wave planning, pilot, execution, validation, reconciliation, cutover, rollback, and post-migration support activities.
  • Use ShareGate extensively and guide the selection and use of other suitable migration tools based on source platform, content volume, security, metadata, compliance, reporting, and cutover requirements.
  • Design solutions using Power Platform, including Power Apps and Power Automate, with appropriate environment strategy, governance, security, data-loss-prevention controls, application lifecycle management, monitoring, and support models.
  • Design integrations with Microsoft Teams, OneDrive, Outlook, Microsoft Entra ID, Microsoft Graph, Office applications, line-of-business systems, APIs, and approved enterprise services.
  • Provide architecture guidance for Microsoft 365 Copilot and Copilot Studio readiness, governance, security, information protection, adoption planning, and prioritized business use cases.
  • Apply Microsoft 365 and SharePoint governance, cybersecurity, privacy, compliance, records management, audit, and information protection principles.
  • Lead technical workshops, design reviews, architecture governance forums, proof of concepts, estimations, proposal development, demonstrations, and client presentations.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum 10-15 years of overall IT consulting, architecture, solution delivery, and technical leadership experience.
  • Demonstrated experience as a Technical Architect or Solution Architect for enterprise SharePoint and Microsoft 365 programmes.
  • Deep hands-on expertise in SharePoint Online and SharePoint Server, including architecture, configuration, customization, integration, governance, security, administration, modernization, and troubleshooting.
  • Extensive end-to-end migration experience using ShareGate, with working knowledge of other enterprise migration tools and approaches for SharePoint, file shares, and Microsoft 365 workloads.
  • Experience planning and delivering large or complex migration programmes, including discovery, inventory analysis, dependency assessment, remediation, permissions mapping, metadata transformation, test migrations, wave execution, reconciliation, cutover, rollback, and hypercare.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft 365 services, including SharePoint Online, Microsoft Teams, OneDrive, Outlook, Microsoft Entra ID, Microsoft Graph, Office applications, Microsoft 365 Copilot, and Copilot Studio.
  • Strong Power Platform experience, particularly Power Apps and Power Automate, including solution architecture, integration, security, governance, environment strategy, data-loss-prevention policies, and application lifecycle management.
  • Experience facilitating architecture, discovery, and design workshops with senior business and technical stakeholders.
