Summary

Role Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior ServiceNow Developer to lead the design, development, customization, integration, and enhancement of enterprise applications on the ServiceNow platform. The successful candidate will combine deep hands-on engineering expertise with technical leadership, platform governance, stakeholder collaboration, and mentoring responsibilities.

The role will partner with enterprise architects, product owners, business analysts, and delivery teams to translate complex business requirements into secure, scalable, maintainable, and user-friendly ServiceNow solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Platform Engineering and Application Development

Design, develop, test, deploy, and support scalable custom applications on the ServiceNow platform.

Lead implementation and enhancement of ITSM, ITOM, ITAM, CMDB, CSM, HRSD, Service Catalog, and custom scoped applications.

Develop Business Rules, Script Includes, Client Scripts, UI Policies, Data Policies, ACLs, Scheduled Jobs, Notifications, and Glide-based solutions.

Build reusable components, utilities, patterns, and platform assets that improve development quality and delivery efficiency.

Perform advanced troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, defect resolution, and production support.

Front-End and User Experience

Design and customize Service Portal, Employee Center, Agent Workspace, Configurable Workspace, and Next Experience interfaces.

Build responsive pages, forms, dashboards, custom widgets, UI Pages, UI Macros, and UI Builder components.

Apply strong front-end engineering practices using JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3, AngularJS, and modern component-based development concepts.

Collaborate with UX and business teams to deliver accessible, intuitive, and consistent user experiences.

Workflow Automation and Integrations

Design automated workflows using Flow Designer, IntegrationHub, custom actions, approvals, and orchestration patterns.

Develop secure integrations with enterprise platforms using REST, SOAP, JSON, XML, OAuth, JWT, MID Server, and IntegrationHub spokes.

Define error handling, monitoring, logging, retry, and support mechanisms for integrations.

Create data imports, transform maps, scheduled integrations, and reconciliation processes.

Technical Leadership and Governance

Lead solution design sessions, technical assessments, code reviews, and release-readiness reviews.

Mentor developers and provide guidance on architecture, scripting, debugging, performance, security, and maintainability.

Establish and enforce coding standards, branching strategies, documentation practices, and platform governance controls.

Partner with ServiceNow architects to manage upgrades, technical debt, platform roadmap priorities, and adoption of new capabilities.

Participate in Agile ceremonies, estimation, sprint planning, backlog refinement, demonstrations, and retrospectives.

Required Qualifications and Skills

8-12+ years of overall IT experience, including 5+ years of hands-on ServiceNow development experience.

Advanced ServiceNow scripting expertise using JavaScript, Glide APIs, GlideRecord, GlideAjax, and server-side and client-side development patterns.

Strong experience with custom application development, Service Catalog, Flow Designer, IntegrationHub, UI Builder, Service Portal, and Workspaces.

Hands-on experience developing REST and SOAP integrations and working with authentication and security mechanisms.

Solid understanding of ServiceNow data models, tables, CMDB concepts, import sets, transform maps, update sets, scoped applications, and access controls.

Experience with Automated Test Framework, source control, CI/CD, deployment planning, and release management.

Strong analytical, debugging, communication, documentation, and stakeholder-management skills.

Ability to lead technical delivery independently while collaborating effectively in an Agile / Scrum environment.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with one or more enterprise ServiceNow modules such as ITSM, ITOM, ITAM, CMDB, Discovery, Service Mapping, CSM, or HRSD.

Experience supporting large-scale, global, or retail enterprise implementations.

Knowledge of cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure or AWS and enterprise DevOps practices.

Exposure to Virtual Agent, Automation Engine, Predictive Intelligence, AI, or generative AI capabilities within workflow platforms.

Working knowledge of ITIL practices and enterprise architecture principles.
