Need a Validation Engineer with automotive experience for our client to lead the creation, authoring, review, approval, baselining, maintenance, and status tracking of requirements throughout the entire product lifecycle.
Experience:
1—5 years of automotive product-development experience, including direct responsibility for requirements definition, authoring, analysis, review, or lifecycle management.
Requirements
• Analysis & Quality: Analyze requirements to ensure they are clear, complete, consistent, feasible, unambiguous, testable, traceable, and aligned with program objectives, architectural constraints, applicable standards, and customer expectations.
• Test Requirements & Acceptance Criteria: Write test requirements in collaboration with development specialists and validation teams, defining measurable acceptance criteria and maintaining full traceability to customer and system requirements.
• Functional Decomposition: Lead the definition and decomposition of customer and stakeholder needs into platform-level functional and non-functional requirements for new vehicle features.
• Program-Specific Tailoring: Tailor and manage approved platform requirements for specific program applications, documenting justified deviations and maintaining alignment with global feature intent.
• Benchmarking & Customer Feedback: Use competitive benchmarking, voice-of-customer clinics, field insights, and stakeholder feedback to identify customer needs and convert them into measurable requirement inputs.
• Stakeholder Alignment: Facilitate cross-functional requirement reviews and resolve gaps, conflicts, assumptions, and interface dependencies with cross-functional stakeholders while applying consistent authoring standards.
• Traceability & Impact Analysis: Maintain bidirectional traceability from customer needs down through system, subsystem, software, hardware, and validation requirements. Assess requirement changes for technical, timing, cost, compliance, and validation impacts.
• Safety & Compliance Integration: Partner with validation teams to confirm requirement coverage, support issue resolution, and ensure applicable safety, cybersecurity, regulatory, and industry standards are incorporated and documented.
• Education:
Bachelor of Science in Electrical, Mechanical, Software, Systems Engineering, or an equivalent technical field from an accredited university.
• Systems Engineering & Standards Knowledge:
o Working knowledge of automotive systems engineering, including functional decomposition, interfaces, architectures, and the interaction of software, hardware, network, and physical components.
O Working knowledge of ISO 26262 and its implications for safety-related requirement definition, allocation, traceability, and verification.
O Familiarity with lNCOSE-aligned requirement engineering practices (elicitation, decomposition, allocation, analysis, traceability, verification, validation, and change management).
O Ability to interpret regulatory requirements, standards, and industry best practices to translate them into clear, traceable product requirements.
• Core Competencies:
o Demonstrated ability to write test requirements in collaboration with development specialists.
o Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to write precise technical requirements and explain technical content to non-technical audiences.
o Proven ability to coordinate requirement deliverables, manage priorities/dependencies, drive decisions, and meet program milestones across cross-functional teams.
• Tools & Technical Skills:
o Hands-on experience using IBM Engineering Requirements Management DOORS / DOORS Next Gen, or a comparable requirements/ALM tool to author, baseline, trace, review, and report status.
o Experience interpreting system architecture and network topology diagrams to identify interfaces, dependencies, data flows, and requirement allocations.
• Domain & Analytical Expertise:
o Experience applying systems engineering methods to complex automotive features, including stakeholder analysis, functional decomposition, interface definition, and verification planning.
